Week 41 – Day 5

The boys got to test drive the new crib this morning. It is definitely better this way!

Trevor has his own loop of tubes to shake so he leaves Brendan’s alone.

For the most part, things went well, but Trevor is a very “on the go” baby and tries to climb everything. Play time was fun until Trevor yanked on some suction line and pulled over an entire cup of water in to the bed. Time to change the sheets and dry the babies!

Trevor had to go to jail for a little while!

I set up a play zone so both boys could be on the floor. Brendan kicked in space for a long time while Trevor proved that he could pull himself up on the couch and threaten to fall over at a moments notice. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him.

Brendan was worn out!

He is acting more like a normal baby every day. He doesn’t care about the toy anymore, he wants the strings and tags instead.

He LOVES this little tray and really concentrates on sliding and spinning the little fishes. He is really good at spinning the green seahorse.

Both boys were pretty cranky in the evening, partly being overtired, partly teething. Trevor chomped on ice cubes and got a little baby Tylenol to go to bed. Brendan needed lots of extra patting and a massage!

Week 41 – Day 4 – Adventures in Self Feeding

Today was all about making a giant mess!

This morning, after scarfing down his puffs in record time, Trevor insisted that he had to have his spoon to eat his prunes.

Bored Brendan does not understand Trevor’s enthusiasm for these things

Trevor is getting cranky going in to the jungle now. He will still play, but he plays angry. He knows Brendan gets attention.

We are trying to give Brendan as much floor time as possible to help him work on his rolling and strength

He still likes his pseudo-hammock naps!

Mr. I-Want-To-Do-It-Myself could not open the lid

Trevor was going to have a different kind of afternoon snack!

It is too crowded in here!

Good thing the new crib arrived today!!

Brendan had a take-two on his speech therapy today since he was very uninterested and cranky yesterday. He got another cool new bitey toy to work on and was a lot more cooperative. One of the things she suggested is to make Brendan some mashed potatoes and let him shmooo them around on the tray of his high chair and get it on his fingers and maybe get a taste of them.
I made up mashed potatoes at dinner time but then Brendan was too tired to sit in his high chair. So I gave them to Trevor instead. He liked the shmooo part.

But then he tasted them!

“This had better not be what is for dinner or I am going to bed hungry!” (he got oatmeal and pear-squash after he was cleaned up!)

Tooth tooth toooooth! The second bottom one is a bump that should cut through any time now. Trevor is getting caught up! Brendan may be cutting a top one though, the race continues!

Week 41 – Day 3

Today was another roller coaster day. When the boys go down for a nap, you never know who you are going to get when they wake up. It will either be a hyper, silly, playful, rested baby or you will have a crying, stomping, kicking, sad baby. It may be the teething. Not sure!
I had the boys all to myself for a while this afternoon while Bill ran errands. Trevor went down for a nap and Brendan had a bit of a tantrum for a while. Just when I got him calm, the house was SILENT. I get a glass of water and sit on the couch for about 23 seconds and DING DONG. Doorbell ring, dogs freak out, two babies crying. Brendan went back to sleep quickly but Trevor’s nap was over. Thanks UPS!

This morning we had to redo the ostomy base and put all fresh tape on Brendan’s face. He was so unhappy with the process, he wore himself out and fell asleep. I was able to do the whole tape job while he was out cold. Wow was that easy!

He got a little penguin on his tape this time!

The funny thing is that Trevor more or less ignores Brendan, but he loved the penguin and was talking to it. Brendan thought Trevor was talking to him and he was beside himself with smiles.

Trevor is going to pull up to stand on the bouncy chair.

It makes Brendan kick harder so that Trevor has more of a challenge.

Don’t fall Trevor!

Brendan was truly entertained by his brother’s efforts

“I am just biting my fingers, Mom. I don’t need socks on my hands”
