Year 2 – Week 2 – Day 6 – Election day

Since Brendan had a nurse this morning, Trevor came with me to my polling place. 10:00AM is a great time to go vote, it was totally empty. We are watching long long lines of people on TV tonight still stuck waiting to vote. It was such a busy morning and still 90 degrees here today so I wouldn’t have wanted to be out long.

Since I hadn’t showered in 2 days and it wasn’t looking good for today either, I decided to be drastic and I took Trevor in to the shower with me. It was pretty funny. He was nervous at first and had a death grip on my hair but once he figured out what was going on, it was pretty funny. At least I felt more human again.

Trevor slept 12 hours last night, he was just exhausted. He felt so much better today that he ate giant meals and was so active and crazy. Keeping up with him was a challenge!

The boys had some new Cheerios game going on today, pushing o’s all around the table.

Brendan forgot that Cheerios were food and he was going to put some in his mouth! Even Trevor was watching.

He was confused

“Are they still on my face?!”

Does not like

This is about how I feel about all this election stuff too.

Funny Trevor cruising all around the couch

Watching the election coverage as the results come in. Brendan obviously found it very interesting.

There was a presidential election when I was almost the same age as my boys, but the first one I have any memories of was two elections later. So much can change in two presidential elections, I can’t imagine where we will be then!

Year 2 – Week 2 – Day 5

The boys had their one-year checkup at the pediatrician’s office today. Not only was it a nice smooth ride to the doctor’s in the new van, but the boys got good grades from the doctor too.
They both also got shots in each arm and each leg which made them less than happy. I just hope that there are not bad side effects from the immunizations this time.
Trevor was exhausted, he actually went to bed early tonight. (he was up at 2am for a while this morning, that may have something to do with it)
Brendan was super silly tonight. He didn’t do so great with physical therapy this morning, but he sure showed off all of his stuff for his nurse this afternoon. He was a busy boy and was on his HME all day.

Trevor was helping Brendan do his tummy time by reading a book.

Trevor says, “I can’t read this, bro, it is upside down”

“What does he know about books, anyway?”

Brendan got his bath and trach change this afternoon. We are having to use more and more towels to give Brendan his bath, over half the bath water leaves the tub before we are done.

It might be because he has kicked up splashing to the next level. Watch his little cheeks, it is just too funny! He is serious about splashes.

Bill had a long day too, so he and Brendan stole a nap together this evening.

Trevor had a ravenous appetite today, he ate really well again. Once we are sure his tummy is all back to “normal” from being sick, we are going to start experimenting with stage 2 formulas to fill in for what would usually be the switch to whole milk. We’ll also give him a test with some things like cheese and yogurt and see if his body is ready for it.

Day by day, my little babies turn in to big boys!

Year 2 – Week 2 – Day 4

I am so tired today. I woke up super groggy and never did get out of the cloud, so this will be a quick post. The boys are both doing much better, it was just a busy day.

Trevor acted all tired

But that was just a brief rest stop, and he was on the move again.

He says, “My tummy is better now, so where is my LUNCH!?” 🙂

Brendan sprinted for nine and a half hours today, picked up where he left off without a hitch! Maybe he will behave for PT in the morning, he has a make up session for last Monday. He was in a good mood, but his old friend Jacque was interrupting his piano playing with some peek-a-boo.

Got him now!

Jacque will always be one of Brendan’s favorites.
