Year 2 – Week 24 – Day 4

This is the first day in a while that Trevor didn’t get to leave the house, not even for a quick errand. It was just me and the boys all day today while Bill and awesome friend Robert worked their tails off outside.

The boys were mostly good to me and they both had an excellent day. We are having to do more learning about sharing. Trevor is not used to Brendan cutting in on his play or trying to steal his toys. He didn’t want to share puzzles. It is good to have a twin around to learn about sharing!

Lots of energy!

Trevor did plenty of climbing today. I thought he was just trying to get up to ride the horse.

Trick riding?

Ah, motivation revealed

I got Brendan cozy for watching “The Lorax” so I could put on his PMV (speaking valve) with its oxygen adapter instead of the mist collar. He did a great job and wore it for 3hours.

They have all their tools to support Daddy’s efforts today.

This truck must need a tire rotation

After taking a nice nap with the mist collar, Brendan went back to the PMV. He wore it for 4 more hours! 7 total today! Yay Brendan!!
There are two problems with using the PMV with just the oxygen line and not the collar. One – Brendan crawling around makes the oxygen line pop off all the time. Two – Trevor wants to steal the oxygen adapter with the line on it to chew on!

Brendan napped through all the noise outside, but Trevor had a hard time. I had to hold him and rock him through much of his nap. It was not a bad thing, I enjoyed the cuddle time. When he got up, we had to go see what all the commotion was about. Something is going on at the other end of the patio!

I put some water in this sandbox again. Trevor loves it. Nice shallow dive!

We haven’t done swimming lessons but we work on some things in the bath tub. He is showing me how he can blow bubbles in the water here.

My little line cooks had to come help in the kitchen while I made dinner.

They are not great helpers!

Trouble and his apprentice!

Year 2 – Week 24 – Day 3

I had NO idea when I got up this morning that it was going to be such an action packed and adventurous day for Trevor. We started the day with a video chat with Gramma and Grampa Dusty and Trevor was all wound up and silly. He even did all his good tricks.
So we decided taking him to the zoo might help him run off some of his crazy.
After breakfast, Trevor and I hit the road. We were only there a few hours, but he was an extremely busy baby!!!

He loves the petting zoo. He doesn’t really care to touch the goats, but he will go all around the whole place and look under the benches and in tunnels to find hiding goats.

“Hey, this goat knows my tricks!”

He got to climb on a real farm tractor

He loved this alligator

He got to be a spider

We ran in to a friend! Funny coincidence!

In a hurry to pack and leave home this morning, we filled up a water bottle for Trevor and got his new bucket hat. And then I left them both on the counter. He had to make do with his baby hat that was in the car and I had to buy him a fancy crazy-straw cup from the gift shop so he could drink enough water. It was hot in the sun even though the temp was only 77.

We came home long enough for lunch and nap and then we heard that our little friend Tinker was racing in Wiener Mania 2013. It wasn’t far away and we have to get the most out of our spring weather, so we headed out again!
We remembered our water and bucket hat this time!

Tyler (red shirt) and Tinker (green jersey) focus before the race!

She came in 4th place in her heat, not enough to go to the semi-finals. Maybe next year!

After being silly and watching a few races, Trevor was hot and tired.

We still had to go grocery shopping because we won’t be able to do our usual Sunday morning run.
It is a long story, but Trevor managed to score himself his first oreo cookie at the store. There was a tired mommy, a big mess, and a proud little boy.

I let him have one after dinner.

Brendan had a great day at home with Daddy, but Daddy didn’t take pictures! Poor Brendan had enough of me giving Trevor dinner and he was ready for some Mommy attention.

Trevor put to bed, undivided attention from Mommy.

I had a good time with Trevor today but I couldn’t help but think about Brendan all day too. I can’t wait for the day he can just spontaneously go places like Trevor did today.
He had a nice long bath and some cuddles and fun and then he went to bed too.

A giant delivery truck dropped off a couple of pallets of construction materials today. Tomorrow is going to be busy for Daddy!

Year 2 – Week 24 – Day 2

It was a full day, I had so many pictures and videos to go through. Last night was good. After I did the early blog, Brendan wore his speaking valve for THREE HOURS! (Today he did 2hrs, 15 minutes) He seems to have finally gotten through the adjustment and is doing much better with the vent being gone. It has been a whole week now and the vent has not been turned on!

We got outside early today for some wind-spinner running.

I was trying to keep the boys entertained with some big bubbles. I bought a bottle of “Fan Yang’s Gazillion Bubbles” which is supposed to be the best bubble juice out there. It is good stuff and makes giant bubbles that you can catch and play with. The boys love it.
They also love when Mommy gets distracted for 2.7 seconds trying to blow a giant bubble, Brendan dives to my lap and pulls over the bottle of bubble juice and Trevor belly flops in the ever-expanding puddle of slimy bubble juice and swims around like a seal. All I could do is try to grab a slippery baby in each hand and yell for Bill to come and help! I had to strip Trevor and rinse him in the kitchen sink. It was like old times, only Trevor doesn’t fit as well as he used to!

Brendan only got a tiny bit on his hands. He was just waiting for the mess to be cleaned up.

“I am beating Trevor’s high score”

Bubble puddle cleaned up, we went back outside for truck slide time

Now he knows he can do it

Brendan had speech today and did a pretty good job. He says, “Just give these things to Trevor, he likes them”

Brendan had a blast climbing on the couch and watching Trevor run up and down the hall chasing the dogs.

And silliness with funny Brendan laughs. I love how he has started saying “Ha Ha Ha” when he laughs!

Sometimes when I need to buy time in the kitchen for clean up after dinner, I give Trevor a couple of candy sprinkles. They are tough to pick up from the tray and when he gets them in his mouth, he puts them in his little front teeth and crunches on them. It keeps him occupied!

I promise I did not stick these on his face like this. I had put the camera down already and when I saw the little candy dimples, I had to get it again.

Trevor is figuring out how to steal things from the counter.

“Psst..Brendan, if we both stand at the gate and cry, they will have to open it and let us out!”

Fail

Some antics from tonight, I swear it isn’t the candy sprinkles! Aunt Shannon better think about buying two helmets!
