Year 2 – Week 49 – Day 5

Today started with a visit to Brendan’s pulmonologist. Trevor stayed home and “helped” Daddy work while I took Brendan myself. Having him facing forward in the car helps, and I put him on Trevor’s side so that I could see him easily and reach him if I stopped the car.
We even did an experiment and took the smallest stroller. Brendan travels so much lighter now!

He is dialing Daddy to give him the update after his appointment

“Hi Daddy. Checkup good, no changes. Ventilator at night all winter to give me strength to fight off germs. Try to keep capping, work toward getting oxygen off all day. Doc says my last chest xray is improved and I look good!”

He tried to fall asleep on me on the way home

This is the last day of the month, so our new tradition is to bake something. Tonight we made some Oatmeal Scotchies. Trevor is a huge helper, he packed the brown sugar for me.

He kept telling me it was “dirt” and poking his fingers in to it!

Brendan was eager to learn how Trevor helps to clean up

He has to learn by doing

Here’s a long montage of some of the silliness

Silly didn’t end there. Brendan has seen Trevor stand in my shoes and wanted to try it too

He tried to walk in them!

Cute Halloween owl buckets make cute hats

It was a long, busy day with lots of laughing. It’s good!

Year 2 – Week 49 – Day 4

This will be a small post to balance out yesterday’s monstrosity. The only thing eventful that happened today is that we turned the carseats around. I have read all about the recommendation to stay rear facing as long as possible and we held out as long as we possibly could. Trevor’s (and even Brendan’s) legs were just so folded up and cramped, it was time.

Bill turned them last night and when we went to go grocery shopping this morning, I loaded Trevor and I swear he said “OoooOOOOh, nice!” He really likes facing forward! So much more leg room!

He is pretending to be asleep because I am trying to take his picture

We spent a lot of the day outside, playing in the jeep, swings, hose, and the big box. I heard a rumor that a Trevor Troll lives in this fort

Jeeps are meant to be full of dirt I guess

Trevor got to try some braunschweiger. He liked it! 🙂

Year 2 – Week 49 – Day 3

This is going to be a HUGE post. Today felt like 3 days combined in to one and I took hundreds of photos. It took forever to narrow them down!

This is Trevor demonstrating that he can “Be Nice!” to his brother with a gentle head pat

We got to take the jeep outside to try it out this morning while it was under 80 degrees!!

Brendan LOVED it!!

Trevor liked the stick

But he loved the ride too

Brendan waits impatiently for his next turn

And in case he wasn’t clear, he signs “more”

They had a great time

Brendan could sell these! How could you say no to that face?

While Trevor did more driving, Brendan had to swing. He is silly

More outside antics

Even sitting in the grass!

Now on to what feels like a whole different day! We loaded up in to the car for a special outing. We have planned to attend this HopeKids event for months, and I was worried we would have to miss it due to illness. Brendan is still chugging along so well and Trevor is doing better, so we went.
Trevor learned to make silly faces from one of his baby books

I don’t know where he learned this trick

Trevor was happy to point all around and say “Dirt!” but Brendan wasn’t sure this wasn’t a fancy doctor’s office.

This special event was a pumpkin festival at Welcome Home Ranch. Trevor got to go on a pony ride

Brendan was taking everything in from the safety of Daddy-arms

There was a corn maze but the boys HATED it so we had to exit quickly. They were much happier about the petting zoo. Trevor is telling me that the pig stinks

Trevor met a baby cow

And llama

And lots of goats and baby goats. (He also saw a duck, chickens, rabbits, a tiny pony and a donkey!)

Brendan investigates

Goats are not to be trusted

Except from an elevated position

We finally got to the boys’ favorite part, the pumpkin patch

Trevor was amazed, and he moved pumpkins around for a very long time

He even brought pumpkins to Brendan

Brendan loved it too, even being in the grass

So many pumpkins to move

We finally picked some twinny looking cute pumpkins and it was time to head home!

The boys went to bed easy, they ought to sleep well! We are so happy to have had a nice day outside. The weather is finally changing and we can do things that make us feel more like a regular family.
