Year 2 – Week 49 – Day 2

On a health note, Trevor is doing better. He is still pretty crabby/irritable, but there have been no panicked crying fits of pain. He has taken 3 doses of his antibiotic now, and I have kept up with the ibuprofen. No other symptoms have presented.
Brendan is still super happy and silly and trying to just launch off things and walk without waiting for someone to be there to catch him. There are going to be some bloody lips in his future I think. He was more “juicy” today than usual, so I am nervous for his health, but otherwise he is not showing other signs of illness.

It is hard to believe that the boys’ 2nd birthday is less than a month away now. But when the first birthday gift arrived at the door and it took two people to carry it in to the house…

We have a super big thank you to send to Gramma and Grampa, Granddaddy, Aunt Heather, Uncle Kevin, Kayla and Ashley, Aunt Shannon, Uncle Jon, Kieran, Aunt Erin, Uncle Jules, and Caleb!!! What a big surprise gift from all!

The package arrived while the boys were napping. When Trevor came out from his nap, he had picked up a tape measure from the toy room. It was so funny to see him make a big surprise face and then go measure the package. I think he has officially determined that this is the biggest present ever.

He has to help Daddy open it

Brendan is going to help put it together too

Tadaa! All but the labels

Brendan seemed to know just what to do. The first thing he did (without any prompting) was to grab and turn the key.

Trevor came back from getting dressed and I said, “Did you come to kick the tires?” I didn’t think he would actually understand me and go do it!

Trevor is a natural too. His little bare foot just BARELY reaches the gas pedal. If he has shoes on, he should be able to drive it

This is good… sharing…

And then the headbutt tackles started.

Peekaboo from the outside was a fun game

Second try at sharing

Trevor prefers to have it to himself

This was one of those rare situations where the giant cardboard box-fort was fun, but they definitely loved the jeep much better!

I got decals all done after they were done with it today. The battery takes 18 hours to complete an initial charge, so hopefully tomorrow, we can take it for a spin and see what happens!!

Bill is already turning over tons of ideas for mods and upgrades. Very first addition, it needs a real horn! It doesn’t have one!
This is one super exciting birthday present and I am glad both boys were well enough to enjoy it when it arrived. They are going to have a blast with this for a long time!

Year 2 – Week 49 – Day 1

I had plans to take the boys on a walk this morning, we have to start prepping for our charity walk in October. Even though Trevor was miserable this morning, I thought it would help him relax. We did 1.3 miles and he was done at 1.

He ate some lunch and took about a 30 minute nap and then woke up screaming with pain again. (And woke up Brendan too). I took him straight to the doctor. Double ear infections means antibiotics twice a day for ten days. At least I know what it is now. He got his first dose and some ibuprofen and went to bed on time. Now the whole next week I will be waiting to see if Brendan catches this. So far, he is doing very well.

After the walk, Brendan was hot so he played in the sink. He really likes his mirror twin, that boy doesn’t try to tackle him, and he is really cute!

Trevor got lots of iGuy today to try to keep him happy. He did so much crying! “Trucks and Shadows” is his favorite app, and he is very good at it. He loves the sound effects.

We played with stickers for a while too, trucks of course

Then he narrates his artwork process, “dot! dot! dot! dot!”

Brendan gets in on that too

Brendan helped Bill do dishes tonight.

Food Critic Trevor gives his review of candy corn

I agree, Trevor! It’s nasty!

Year 2 – Week 48 – Day 7

I am feeling frazzled tonight. Trevor had a low grade fever all day but was acting like a slightly crabby version of himself.
Then tonight around 5:30p his fever seemed to spike up. He was cold, miserable, and crying so much. Brendan was taking apart his food truck, climbing on tables and generally making it impossible for me to take care of Trevor at all so I had to call Bill home from a business dinner.

A hot bath was the only thing that helped calm Trevor down, I think he was chilled. I dressed him in warm jammies (that are actually too small for him, I picked the wrong ones) and he went to bed really early. I don’t expect him to sleep through the night. I don’t know what is wrong yet, or what we have to worry about with Brendan, who is still doing just fine.

I will probably regret giving Trevor banana this morning, and constipation might be part of his discomfort today. But he loves them so much.

Brendan had therapy today and impressed everyone. He played with stickers and water and did lots of talking for his new speech therapist. She was happy with all the signs he knows and uses.
Trevor sorted candy while Brendan had therapy.

Brendan signs “take a bath” in the bath

We had fun plans for the weekend to go to a Hopekids event, I hope Trevor shakes off whatever this is and that Brendan stays healthy. Only yesterday I expressed my fears of illness smacking us over the head right as we started to appreciate healthiness. 🙁
