Year 2 – Week 52 – Day 3

We have had this day on our mind for a long time, and I have been so afraid that something would go wrong and we wouldn’t be able to make the event. The weather was beautiful and the boys did a really good job!

We tried to give them as much running-around time as possible before the walk started. Trevor was all ready with his cool shades

He met Belle

He gave Tinkerbell a hug

But he left Spiderman hanging! He wouldn’t give him a high five at all.

The event started at a school, Trevor wanted to go in to the classrooms. I guess he wants to go to school!

Gramma took Brendan walking all around too

Gramma’s got two heavy boys!

Brendan’s whole awesome nursing team came out for the event!

We were happy to have our cousins Bob and Marian come to join us too with their little dog Gizmo, but we didn’t get a good picture of them! Gramma and Marian had to share and compare Gizmo pictures (they both have little dogs named Gizmo!)

Ready to walk, Brendan is suspicious. He kept signing “more” because he wanted to get down and walk more with Gramma.

The rare shot of all four of us together!

It was a really great walk, the route was pretty!

We got lots of compliments on our team shirts!

For completing the whole course, the boys each received a HopeWalk medal. I can’t say that they were expecially impressed

They got their medals from some players from the Arizona Rattlers (arena football)

Brendan looks pretty perky for someone who just walked 3 miles

Better than the medal to Trevor, a celebratory frozen coke

Now Brendan is tired

He gives Gramma good night kisses before his nap

Trevor devoured some peanut butter and apple slices and made a giant mess for lunch and then slept several hours.

The HopeWalk had a great turnout and the organization raised over $40,000 total. We were excited to be a part of it!

Year 2 – Week 52 – Day 2

Today was a very Trevor-centered day, which is good because tomorrow will be a very Brendan-centered day. It was an absolutely beautiful day to be outside, so Trevor decided that we should take Gramma to the zoo.

Trevor has officially proven that he is able to turn doorknobs and open doors (trouble!!!) He let himself out to the garage to get in the car.

Cool man ready for the zoo

He is looking for squirrel monkeys in the monkey garden

He loved the monkeys and the pink flamingos, but he gets really excited when he sees common black grackles hopping around (wild birds).

This horse neighed at Trevor and came over for some attention

He pointed at a windmill and told me it was a helicopter

Trevor loves eggs

Trevor loved this turkey

He got cozy and listened to the turkey telling a story!

Cow

Happy dance for the goats (just prior to stepping in to a deep goat-pee-and-water puddle with his brand new shoes)

He got one of the goat brushes and tried to brush some goats

His favorite hiding bench goats

Driving a tractor

Taking a break after lots of walking

Trevor and Gramma hanging out in a giant clam shell

Smile for the camera Trevor!!

He walked and walked and walked today, we were trying to wear him out so he would take a good nap

We stopped at his burger place on the way home. Service was really slow today so he had to play games and have a snack while we waited

Brendan had a good day too. He wanted to walk and walk all day! He loves to show off how he can do it

Walking with trucks!

Both boys didn’t want to go to bed, but they are both tired! Tomorrow will be a big day!

Year 2 – Week 52 – Day 1

We are cruising full speed in to the last week of having one-year-olds. Brendan totally stressed me out this morning by having an irregular/rough start starting around 4am. He had the signs and symptoms that usually are the onset of illness. He pulled it together though and had a pretty good day and a totally normal evening.

Brendan got to go outside and play this morning

Trevor had to do chores instead! 🙂
Laundry

Sewing

Vacuuming

Brendan had to get a bath in the sink because he threw up while playing. (Part of his rough morning experience)

Trevor at least got to go outside and see the recycle truck. He heard the signal when nobody else did and came to tell me it was time to go outside. He was insistent!

Then more outside time. Boys in box fort

Peek!

Gramma, Trevor and I did some shopping. Brendan wanted to go too!

iGuy helps him feel better

There was plenty of crabbiness today, even with Gramma here! I had to blow bubbles to keep Trevor happy to get dinner in him. He was a bubble catcher.

Brendan was watching the fun too

And then standing on Daddy

Ice cream!!! (cookie dough)

We had to take the bubbles to the bath too! Trevor kind of likes them!

Trevor thinks we can’t find him so he doesn’t have to go to bed

Too tough for bedtime

Brendan seems to be doing well tonight. No more scares!!! That boy had better stay healthy!
