Year 3 – Week 23 – Day 4

Last night was ridiculous. Around 2am, the dog in the house behind us started barking. It was a single loud bark about every 15 seconds and it went on for 20-30 minutes. When we couldn’t stand it anymore, Bill got up and decided to try to hang the bark box. It is a little tool that emits a sound only dogs can hear and it does it any time it detects a bark. It works on some dogs.
So here is Bill in the middle of the night trying to wire this thing in to the tree when suddenly the tick-tick-tick of the sprinkler system starts. He had to make a dive out of the lawn to avoid getting blasted. How’s that for timing? The dog must have been let in, because it finally stopped barking – right as Trevor woke up crying.

It was cookie day today. Brendan had a good therapy appointment this morning while Trevor and I got the cookies through the oven. They came out beautifully.

I didn’t have to convince Trevor to try one

Even Brendan thought they looked good

He licked it!

Of course, this is the kid that licks his own feet

Yesterday, Bill took Trevor to Sears and they shopped in tools and bought some new wrenches. This morning, Trevor woke up asking to go to the tool store. He asked at least five times throughout the morning. So they went back to a different Sears tonight and browsed lawnmowers, vacuums, and wrenches, and then they did a few laps around the mall.

Year 3 – Week 23 – Day 3

It is all Erin’s fault, she made me think about baking cookies. We tried a new setup in the kitchen today. I like this much better than having Trevor stand on the edge of a chair.
323t14

He was such a good helper

323t17

We put the dough in the fridge and will bake the cookies tomorrow.

Brendan wanted to relax with Daddy instead. Actually, he was banished from the kitchen because he wanted to throw everything on the ground, including the bowls and mixer.
323b06

He got a beater but wouldn’t taste anything

323b08

He’s helping with a game

Year 3 – Week 23 – Day 2

My plan for today was to get all fired up and attack the house with a mighty purge, getting rid of excess clutter and helping organize. I wanted to finish sewing projects so I could get my table back again, and get things photographed for craigslist and ebay. It was a great plan!
Then the complete opposite happened! We got a phone call yesterday from a friend we hadn’t talked to in a while. Moving out of state meant getting rid of some big things that wouldn’t be making the trip, so they offered them to us for free. So instead of purging clutter, Bill went out early to pick up more stuff!!

First there was this little tent. The boys loved it!!

After having to break it down for transport, Bill got this put back together for the boys this afternoon. It still needs a ton of cleanup, but it is in good shape otherwise! Crazies can get their jumping out somewhere other than in Brendan’s crib (which has been creaking under the strain as they get bigger and stronger)

There were some other big things we picked up that need some work, but we will save all that for another post. Thank you for the hand-me-downs, Iris! 🙂

There was a total nap fail today and some mega-crabby boys tonight. I was awake most of the night with Brendan so I was in no mood for it. (Brendan had a good night, his machines just were being noisy for attention. And there was the 3am call from Trevor’s room…”Rocking chair!!!! Mommy? Rocking! Rock rock roooooocking chair!!”)
I broke out a secret weapon to get through bath time. Glow sticks! It was a hit.

Trevor was asleep by 8PM and Brendan soon after. Tomorrow will be much more uneventful. We need to get refocused on that clean/purge now!
