Year 3 – Week 23 – Day 4

Last night was ridiculous. Around 2am, the dog in the house behind us started barking. It was a single loud bark about every 15 seconds and it went on for 20-30 minutes. When we couldn’t stand it anymore, Bill got up and decided to try to hang the bark box. It is a little tool that emits a sound only dogs can hear and it does it any time it detects a bark. It works on some dogs.
So here is Bill in the middle of the night trying to wire this thing in to the tree when suddenly the tick-tick-tick of the sprinkler system starts. He had to make a dive out of the lawn to avoid getting blasted. How’s that for timing? The dog must have been let in, because it finally stopped barking – right as Trevor woke up crying.

It was cookie day today. Brendan had a good therapy appointment this morning while Trevor and I got the cookies through the oven. They came out beautifully.

I didn’t have to convince Trevor to try one

Even Brendan thought they looked good

He licked it!

Of course, this is the kid that licks his own feet

Yesterday, Bill took Trevor to Sears and they shopped in tools and bought some new wrenches. This morning, Trevor woke up asking to go to the tool store. He asked at least five times throughout the morning. So they went back to a different Sears tonight and browsed lawnmowers, vacuums, and wrenches, and then they did a few laps around the mall.

  1. Good-looking cookies! They must have been good if Brendan licked one!
What a night you had! Noise in the night can be so loud. Where we live, you can’t leave a dog out barking during the night. Good thing Bill didn’t get soaked. 🙂
    Lots of love and hugs,

  2. 🙂 😉 one of the “benefits” of living in this condo, is the “Association rules” about pets. Most dogs here are small, because their owners have to take them out, and pick up after them.
Brendan, “licking his foot” 😮 🙂 🙂 I can barely even get my foot twisted around far enough to “see” the bottom of it ! 😮 😮 😉
The “up” side?, I don’t need to keep popsicles around for “Palate Cleaning” 🙂 🙂
Even though the camera was sharply focused on the cookie……the “anticipation” on Trevor’s face was clear enough……”no convincing necessary” 😮 🙂 🙂

  3. Good morning from the Lake House!! The sun is shining and the snow is melting!!! But the lake is one big frozen pond….can’t wait until it becomes “golden pond”!! Those cookies look amazing and Trevor, the helper, is soooo cute!! What a great idea bringing it all to his level!! Tiffanie, your Nana had the “Oster” set up and seeing that reminded me of a visit we all took to Delaware!! Your cousin Mike sprayed the wall with whip cream or shaving cream, and we all got in to trouble??!!! That’s when you were little! 🙂 Oh, your boys have so many adventures ahead for them!! Prayers, hugs and love!! 🙂

    • My Oster stand mixer is “vintage”. 🙂 Maybe it is as old as me. It still makes a mean cookie. I don’t remember the wall-spray incident, but I remember being in trouble with Nana enough. 😀

      • Gramma told me to check on this post!! Ha, ha! That must be her Oster set up reincarnated??!! Nana taught in a one room country school and always had that stern “teacher look”! So you thought you were in trouble, even if you weren’t! Your cousin Mike took the prize for always being in trouble! 🙂 Believe it or not, I can assure you that she loved all her grandkids, just had a strange way of showing it, through her crafts! Thanks for the memories Tiffanie!! Hugs!! 🙂

    • It was shaving cream!! We were all in Delaware to celebrate Tiffanie’s and Michael’s 3rd birthdays in May 1978! The kids all slept on the floor, and Tiffanie got a tick stuck in her head!! Yuck!
After the kids were settled for the night, the “adults” were sitting around having a drink, then Frank Sinatra’s “Strangers in the Night” came on the radio, and Letty jumped into Rich’s lap because it was “their song”!! Gotta love it…I did! 🙂

      • Yup, it was shaving cream!! That’s right…Stranger’s in the Night is our wedding song!! 🙂 You and my Carrie amaze me with your recall! Carrie well remembers that visit…of course I do too, but she too is great at recalling details!! It was fun getting together then!! Thanks too for the memories Cindy!!! Hugs!!! 🙂
