Year 3 – Week 21 – Day 6

There has been so much to think about this month, I let March 12th go by and totally didn’t really realize that we just passed the 2yr anniversary of Brendan’s last open heart surgery. It doesn’t compute in my brain. Last year, I made a big video about his progress. This year, I guess it is a good sign that we have moved on and are focusing on all of life’s forward progress so much that we forgot this milestone.
Watching the first anniversary video now is surreal to me. Here is that video if you missed it last year.

Back to today, it was just a day full of errands and laundry. For the past few days, Trevor has taken an epic nap. Today I got him in bed at 12:30pm and I had to wake him up just before 4pm!! He must be about to launch up another few inches in height or something. I was so glad for the long nap, I finally was able to get our taxes done. WHEW!

It is unfair to Brendan that he has to stay inside sometimes while he is connected to his food pump

He got to make ketchup art instead

He was the boss in the game of popsicle keep-away

Silliness.

We are about a week out from the 2yr anniversary of getting the trach put in. Like the ostomy bags and the tape mustaches, trachs will one day be just a memory.

Year 3 – Week 21 – Day 5

We had an extremely active and busy day. We mowed the lawn, the boys chased me this time. It was garbage truck day.

The boys drove their jeep like crazies. I don’t know why Brendan likes to sit on the driver’s side but Trevor tries to drive from the passenger seat. Trevor is learning how to control the forward/reverse lever and tries to steer. Brendan is just thrilled to have Trevor drive him around.

The front loader stays busy when Trevor is around. He loves to move dirt and rocks.

We had a paperwork meeting again tonight. We had to have our supply company bring us a new feeding pump because the old one was having issues. Of course they show up in the middle of our meeting.

Brendan had a pretty good day but lost most of his dinnertime feeding in a giant barf. I really wish I knew how to help him feel better.

Year 3 – Week 21 – Day 4

It took me a couple of tries to remember what day of the week it was. I am all thrown off!

I started the boys on the morning dose of Wall-E during vest therapy and Brendan’s first feeding. It was a no-barf day today! Finally!

Trevor did a little suctioning

My little musicians (check your volume before starting this one!)

Brendan had PT today and got to use his balance bike. He is still juuuust too short to reach right, but with help, his PT thinks that it is great core exercise.

Trevor is getting good at the bike, he was jogging with it down the hall.

Trevor woke up to a special surprise. His take-apart airplane arrived today.

We also got a book about going potty. I remember reading a really bizarre potty book as a child and for the life of me I can not remember what it was called. It might have belonged to the kids that lived next door in Virginia? Maybe someone else remembers. 🙂
