Year 4 – Week 5 – Day 4

Pictures from yesterday:

Bill put up the Christmas lights on the house on Sunday. Trevor saw them on Monday and said. “Christmas lights? That means it is Christmas time?” I said, “Yes, it is the season”. He says, “Now I can play with the Christmas train!”
He has quite a memory. He often sees the Christmas train on the shelf in the garage and occasionally asks to play with it and I tell him, “It isn’t Christmas time.”
I couldn’t say no this time.

Today Brendan had his EKG/Echo and checkup with the cardiologist. He gets an A+ on everything. He screams and fights the tests, but he was otherwise a very good boy. I got him his Paw Patrol buddies as a reward and he was one super happy camper. He kept giving them hugs and kisses.

Then he put his trach cap on his big toe and bit it off.

The doctor talked about Brendan’s long term plan too. He hopes to see the trach come out next summer and then they would consider doing his final big open heart surgery the following summer (2016). There is so much that could change, but it was nice to have a tentative plan.

The bad news to share is that it looks like we picked up another viral infection this weekend. Brendan had a rough boogery morning and has an elevated heart rate while sleeping. This evening Trevor had a 101 degree fever. 🙁 I hope they can shake it off quickly. Bill just started an antibiotic to get rid of his cold that settled in to his chest and won’t go away. So far I am feeling fine.
I don’t want a sick-kids holiday!

  1. I am so sorry to hear that the boys are sick for the holiday coming up. I hope Brendan does a good job of kicking this one like he did the last one. Poor Trevor having a fever has to make him feel bad. 🙁 I hope he has a good night anyway, and Brendan, too.
As for the other news… that is great that Brendan had such a good check up at the cardiologist. He has been doing so amazingly well and I hope it continues so that everything can go as planned. Go Brendan! He looks so cute playing with his Paw Patrol puppies! 🙂
The boys should have loads of fun playing with their Christmas train. It sure looks like they were having fun playing with it today. It doesn’t surprise me that Trevor would remember what you told him about having it at Christmas time, he has quite a memory! They are both little smarties!
I hope Bill feels better really soon on his antibiotic, and that the boys don’t get very sick and it’s a quick one, and that you don’t get it at all.
Sending lots of healing love and hugs,

The news from Brendan’s cardiologist is wonderful!! He is really doing well…way to go Brendan!! Trevor has a fever..poor boy! 🙁 And Brendan has boogies…oh no!!! Hope whatever this is, will pass quickly and the boys will be back to themselves, like tomorrow!!! Uncle Rich and I wish all the family a Happy, healthy, loving Thanksgiving!!!
