Year 4 – Week 6 – Day 2

So the mild little bug we have been fighting turned into a scary croup night for Trevor. Just trying to keep him calm was the hardest part. He was really working hard to breathe and crying made it worse, which made him panic, cry more…etc. It was a really bad cycle.
He would only sleep lightly and cry if I tried to leave his room for any reason. I ended up “sleeping” on his floor so that I could get him to rest and so that I could listen to his breathing.

This morning, he let me give him a nebulizer treatment with just saline. The moisture seemed to make his throat feel better.

He is sharing his mist with me. I have a terrible cough too.

We ate dinner in the cool air on the patio and waited for the ice cream truck. The boys got giant bomb pops to help with sore throats. Brendan is actually still doing OK. He isn’t 100%, but hopefully he will get better without getting worse.

I took a picture of the moon just because it was there and I could.

It is after 11PM and Trevor is still awake tonight. He is too uncomfortable to sleep and wanted another mist treatment. Brendan’s night nurse called out sick, so I am getting ready to sleep next to him while Bill and Trevor try to sleep in our bed. Bill has to leave for work at 5:45am, so this will get interesting. I hope Monday is kind to us.

  1. Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear Trevor has croup again. Poor baby! I hope it won’t be his annual late Fall illness. You had croup this time of year when you were his age, too. 🙁
It must be doubly hard when you are sick, too. Then to top it off, no nurse to help through the night. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that Brendan doesn’t get worse and isn’t prone to croup, not everyone is.
I hope your night wasn’t too bad and today will be much better. I know no-nurse Mondays can be difficult when no one is ill.
I’m sending all the good healing thoughts and wishes for speedy recoveries for everyone. I wish there was something more I could do to help.
Lots of extra love and hugs,

  2. Good morning from the East Coast!! Oh No!!! Your family should be exempt from nasty micro-organisms!!! Hoping that you all are on an upward swing. We have seen lots of croupy, coughy respiratory things here…transported a few while on duty. Praying that you have now gone through the worst of it!! The moon picture is beautiful! Prayers, hugs and love!!! 🙂

  3. I don’t pray all that often, and when I do, the Almighty doesn’t always answer……
maybe this time, for their health, and yours.
It’s always sad to see the boys fighting some “bug”.

    To a lighter note then – – – – -;) 🙂 🙂 I’ve never been “mooned” on a blog before 😮
    🙂 🙂 Great picture !! 🙂 🙂
    May your recoveries be swift…

  4. Hope T has a better night tonight and that you are able to get some sleep too. After our video chat got disconnected, K kept saying “bye Tiffanie”. It was good to chat, even briefly.

  5. Good morning from the East Coast!! Just checking in and hoping that your family is on the mend!!! Prayers, hugs, love, and healing juju your way!! 🙂
