Year 4 – Week 29 – Day 7

I have a few major things to update, but I am too tired to type much!

I found these cute little cheap dress-up helmets that look just like Brendan’s Lego guys. He was in love. He even wore his helmet into Sam’s Club.

Thursday night, Brendan had his sleep study. He was actually excited to go to the hospital and was having fun until they started to hook him up. It helps that I found him these cute new owl toys to bring with him.

Brendan is still not 100% after his little cold, but he made it through the seven hour study with no oxygen needed to keep sats. He had a rough night of sleep and some extra work with breathing. I nervously await the results.

We have a big change coming this week. Our nursing hours are reduced from 5 nights a week down to 2 nights a week. It is going to be a big challenge to work out our new routine.

Year 4 – Week 29 – Day 2

Happy Mother’s Day!

Brendan is still not 100%, he is fighting this little cold. We still managed to have a successful trial of “the new bed”. It does not change much overnight, I still slept on the floor between the beds to take care of his equipment. What it did change is that we were able to put the boys to bed, turn on the monitor, and then we had a few hours of time where we could actually have the lights on in the living room. And speak.
They were up early this morning, but slept solid through the night.

We wanted to explore something a little unusual today. We try to avoid the crowds. We went to check out “Arizona Falls”.
429bt01

429bt02

It is a hydroelectric plant on the canal system that has been turned in to a work of art and a place to explore and get a bit of a history lesson.
42901

The boys did NOT like it. Trevor was terrified by the roaring water sound. It was pretty loud. Brendan didn’t do bad with it until Trevor got upset and then Brendan cried too!

I had hoped to take some cool pictures, but they didn’t allow me a lot of time. I got a few snaps.

42903

Quick selfie. Notice who is missing? Bill was taking work phone calls in the car.
429bt05

We tried to visit the big playground nearby that is actually next to the middle school where Bill went. It was a neat playground, but the sun was just too brutal and hot.

We had hoped to catch a really early dinner and dessert somewhere, but Bill ended up working again until it was too late to beat the dinner rush. I ended up taking the boys to Dairy Queen because we had promised them a restaurant.
429t02

They don’t know better. We still had fun.
429bt07

Bill was able to join us for dessert.

Brendan has only a few days left to shake this cold so he can rock his sleep study. I hope it is a good week.

I thought about my Grandma a lot today. I wish I could have been with my Mom and sisters for the cookout in the rain. 😀 My boys were highly emotional, loud, uncooperative and crazy today and it was enormously frustrating, but I still had a good day.

Year 4 – Week 28 – Day 6

We’ve been fighting a little cold virus in our house the last few days. Stuffy noses, restless sleeping, lots of sneezing. Both boys are handling it pretty well and seem to be doing better.

Brendan had trouble making it through dinner on Tuesday. He was so tired.
428b04

We got a special delivery today and had a big project to do.
428bt02

428b05

It needed a lot of wrenching
428bt03

428b06

Brendan had to “gear up”. He calls this his safety belt.
428b07

Trevor has perfected the “construction guy” pose.
428bt04

I still laugh when a mattress gets delivered in a small box. It is not just foam, it has pocketed coils. But it is vacuumed down and rolled up.

Tada!!

428bt07

They have already had a stuffed animal war between the beds.

Brendan’s first night sleeping in this new bed will be tomorrow night, just as a trial. It will be interesting to see how Trevor does with it and how much they are both up in the night. Going forward, he will only be in this bed “as tolerated” the nights that we don’t have a nurse.
Otherwise he will still be sleeping in the living room.

This gives him his own space for quiet time during the day as well. He was really excited about it.
