Year 2 – Week 49 – Day 7

Trevor and I had a big exciting morning. The moms group had made plans to attend another fall festival and today was a special admission day for little kids at Vertuccio Farms. Because he loved the last one so much, we decided to go. Brendan couldn’t go today because he had OT/PT this morning and I wasn’t sure what to expect from the farm.

We got there right before they opened. This is the only way to go anywhere! We got in and were able to do lots of exploring before it started to get packed. Trevor got to try his first bouncy house all by himself!

He LOVED this duck run contraption. He wasn’t strong enough to pump the water to make the ducks go, but he thought it was pretty cool anyway.

He got to milk a “cow” and squeeze water out of a fake udder.

He couldn’t reach to peddle a truck around the track, but I was able to sit in one and put him on my knee. He helped steer and we did a few laps.

Trevor was climbing on tires when he spotted the cow train

He loved the ride (he actually had to go sitting on my lap, that was interesting!)

He wheelbarrowed around and moved some pumpkins

Ice cream sandwich!

He wasn’t very good at sharing

There were small airplanes flying low overhead too

There was not a petting zoo, but there were some animals to visit like these loud fluffy geese

He had a conversation with a donkey

He met some begging goats

Good thing I had some quarters!

He LOVED the begging goats and the food chute!

We will probably try to do another outing to this farm with Brendan, he ought to love it too! We got home just in time for lunch and a nap, but we hadn’t been in the door even a minute before Trevor was saying “Outsiiiiide!!!” As soon as he woke up from his nap, he was on it again. “OUT SIDE!!”

Trevor ran in the yard. Brendan can also be very clear about what he wants!

Brendan can go up the ladder all by himself now. That presents a little bit of a wiring problem when he goes through to the slide and wants to go down.

He likes to slide almost as much as he likes to swing

They had a secret conversation

And then headed for the getaway car

It was a race for the top!

Brendan has to clean up the mess

Brendan had a very good PT session and showed off his stand-up abilities (not comedy routine) and walking. Both boys were crazy sillies tonight so they should be super tired!

Year 2 – Week 49 – Day 6

No more waiting for the garbage truck to come to us. We went green truck hunting this morning. We did a 2.1 mile walk in the neighborhood and success!

We caught the truck doing small cul-de-sacs so we could park and watch it for a while. When we were trying to get out of the house this morning (before it got hot), I remembered that the mosquitoes have been really bad since we had all that rain and standing water. I grabbed two pairs of lightweight pajama pants and two pairs of socks so that they would be covered from bugs and sun.

Brendan’s final outfit was….bold

We picked up some rocks on our walk so that Trevor had something for in his dump truck he loves.

I ran Brendan up and down the yard in the jeep, helped him learn to climb a ladder, and watched him go up the slide backwards. But he really just wanted to swing all day. We were outside most of the day!

I cut some windows in the box fort. Trevor was throwing rocks in, then going in the fort and throwing them back out.

Brendan impressed his OT with a new trick today. He can stand up all by himself in the middle of the room with nothing to grab on to. He is wobbly and doesn’t succeed every time, but he shocked us all with it. He LOVES to practice walking and is getting more stable every day. He sees his PT tomorrow, maybe she will have some tips for him.

Year 2 – Week 49 – Day 5

Today started with a visit to Brendan’s pulmonologist. Trevor stayed home and “helped” Daddy work while I took Brendan myself. Having him facing forward in the car helps, and I put him on Trevor’s side so that I could see him easily and reach him if I stopped the car.
We even did an experiment and took the smallest stroller. Brendan travels so much lighter now!

He is dialing Daddy to give him the update after his appointment

“Hi Daddy. Checkup good, no changes. Ventilator at night all winter to give me strength to fight off germs. Try to keep capping, work toward getting oxygen off all day. Doc says my last chest xray is improved and I look good!”

He tried to fall asleep on me on the way home

This is the last day of the month, so our new tradition is to bake something. Tonight we made some Oatmeal Scotchies. Trevor is a huge helper, he packed the brown sugar for me.

He kept telling me it was “dirt” and poking his fingers in to it!

Brendan was eager to learn how Trevor helps to clean up

He has to learn by doing

Here’s a long montage of some of the silliness

Silly didn’t end there. Brendan has seen Trevor stand in my shoes and wanted to try it too

He tried to walk in them!

Cute Halloween owl buckets make cute hats

It was a long, busy day with lots of laughing. It’s good!
