Year 2 – Week 30 – Day 3

It was a super busy day (again) for a Saturday. Bill worked super hard in the new room to get the ceiling and window trim painted, and the ceiling fan hung. Tomorrow will be more detail and touch up painting and baseboard installation. Then we can tackle the carpet project! I cared for the super-powered energy twins all morning, both of whom decided that 5am was a good time to wake up.

Trevor and I ran a few errands and then we had some adult company tonight. Our friend Mike (who is a daily blog reader!) got to meet the boys in person for the first time. We made dinner and the boys had to sit at the table with us.

Trevor obviously didn’t like the dinner menu tonight

Brendan enjoyed dinner company

I got a nice squishy and longer bath mat for in the tub to try to make it easier to have both boys in there together. Logically, giving the boys a bath at the same time should save time. In reality, it is more work than the normal routine and it definitely requires two people. Baths together will be a once in a while fun thing rather than a daily event.

Mike brought them each a new truck, Brendan thought he had better bite the tires to check it out

Trevor is helping Brendan learn how to crawl and run trucks. They had a blast. Thanks, Mike!

“That’s right, now I have both of the trucks”

It is 8:30PM. Trevor is sound asleep in bed, Brendan is playing, crawling, climbing and being silly!

Year 2 – Week 30 – Day 2 – Post 2!

I should know better than to think that I can do the blog early in the day. There will always be something else in the evening! This is the second post today, so be sure to keep scrolling for the morning cuteness!

Bill was out of the house for a while tonight and so after dinner, I had to get Trevor through the bath. Brendan came in to the bathroom with me just to watch, but he was way too interested in the water!

So I don’t know if it was brave or foolish, but I threw Brendan in the tub too!

He loved all of the new toys he has never seen.

Bill came home just in time to help me with the “getting out” process and setting up Brendan’s stuff. And he got to see the sillies in action.

“Brother in the bath is OK!!” (for tonight anyway)

There is only one thing left for Brendan to do to copy Trevor’s bath routine. Streaking down the hall to get dry.

Now I have to try to get Brendan to GO TO BED!! He fights it so much!

Year 2 – Week 30 – Day 2

It is a super-early blog day today because I already have enough cuteness for one day. The boys have been going like crazy and now they are taking a nap.

There are huge changes coming up for Brendan. Due to a complete overhaul of the state’s early intervention program, and a change in the way they will approach service like PT, OT, and speech, Brendan is going to lose all three of his current therapists and he will have an all new team. We will meet the new people on Tuesday and have a new therapy schedule.
Brendan’s day nurse, Jen, will be going out on maternity leave in a few weeks, and his night nurse Jennifer has put in her notice to be leaving at the beginning of June. He is going to have an almost entirely new care team. We may be shuffling around some nursing hours too! The magnitude of the changes causes stress, but we are going to try to make the best out of all of this. It is just one more twist in the road on this journey.

We tried to get the most out of outside this morning before it got too hot (which was at 9:30am!). Brendan was working on his climbing.

And just in case you think we are setting up the pictures, here is more evidence that Brendan is a little monkey in the making.

They had a blast knocking down stacks of blocks going around on the carousel.

Brendan helped Trevor with fashion advice

I spent all morning cleaning up puddles. It was the day of leaks I guess, Brendan’s feeding tube leaked first, then the med port opened again, Trevor’s sippy cup leaked everywhere, formula truck tipped and spilled more gross formula, it just was “mommy the mop” all morning. So Brendan lost his soaking wet onesie.

Brendan played Yo Gabba Gabbas

Brobee kisses

We ordered some commercial grade “random variety” carpet tiles for in the new office and they arrived today. It will be pretty fun flooring in there. We sorted through all the tiles and picked out the ugliest ones that we won’t use. The boys enjoyed helping sort the tiles and then had a blast climbing on the piles.
They had a pretty lengthy conversation too.

And this was all before lunch!! There is a ton of painting still to do in the new room, and then Bill can install the new ceiling fan and start working on the flooring. The goal was too move the desk in next weekend, it will be a tight deadline. With the blog done early, hopefully I can help get things done.
