Year 2 – Week 14 – Day 4

There were no extraordinary leaps in development today to talk about, so I will get straight to some cute pictures.

Brendan starts with eating green beans and moves straight to eating planets!

“Not the whole planet, Mom! Just a continent!”

We dug out some old pacifiers to see if we could find the right one for Brendan (he didn’t like any of them while awake). Trevor wanted to show Kieran how to use a soothie “Li’l T Style”

If you don’t know what a soothie is, it is a green soft pacifier for newborns. He has the whole thing in his mouth.

Daddy making fun of Trevor!

Trevor decided to try multitasking (drinking and walking)

Somebody cut that baby off, he has had enough to drink!

I can’t wait for his walking to get more solid so I can take him outside more and wear him out. Right now, he loves to be out of the house, but he just wants to eat every pebble and leaf and twig, and he is fascinated by every little hole in the sidewalk.

It was a beautiful spring-like day a bit this afternoon, but it rained most of the day otherwise. We had to play inside. The boys got to try out their new iPad that Daddy got for them with his reward points from work. Now they are certainly the most spoiled-est babies on the block. The iPad has a rubbery case called an iGuy with arms that are like handles for them.

They didn’t think much of Angry Birds!

Brendan loves this Fisher Price app.

As I was downloading the “Trevor Cam” videos from outside, we found some very old videos of a cute chubby little Trevor. The modern Trevor has his finger on the ‘delete’ key, trying to get rid of evidence that he was a little crab!

I don’t think I ever used this one on the blog, so here is a little flashback to sometime around last April!

Year 2 – Week 14 – Day 3

We had a full day today, but it was all good. We are both low on sleep but Brendan had a good night. He slept almost 12 hours total (with frequent restless movements, needing help turning, needing to be patted). But he slept!

I had a chance to do some non-baby things today while Bill took care of both boys. I didn’t do a good job detaching from everything and made a mess of some projects because I was trying to work too quickly, but it was still a nice break. The boys liked Daddy time.

They played with the ball popper for a while.

They watched Yo Gabba Gabba, although I think Trevor was secretly planning his next naughty adventure.

Trevor loves going to visit Brendan

And then he waddled away.. waddle waddle!

Trevor is getting more brave about his walking!

Brendan says, “my next mission is to pull myself up on this thing”

This video is actually from yesterday but it is too cute to leave out. It is all shaky because I am trying to wave at him to get him to wave. He is very enthusiastic about waving to Trevor when he gets up in the morning!

Brendan shocked us all yet again today! We have noticed for a while now that he will occasionally make a sucking motion in his sleep. We have attempted to slip him a pacifier before but he usually wakes with a start and smacks it away.
Tonight he accepted it!

Not only that, but he sucked on it!!! This is a huge deal, it means that his natural reflex is not totally gone.

When he woke up, he was pretty angry about it. Another attempt later was pretty much same old Brendan, he swatted it away, annoyed. Still, we are very proud of him. Withdrawal persists, but in short spells.

Year 2 – Week 14 – Day 2

What a day! Brendan is definitely making huge improvements every day as he gets used to the lack of drugs. He still has sleep issues. When I tried to put lotion on his legs, he screamed as if I was rubbing him down with broken glass. But he is starting to act more like himself and had an overall great day. Trevor slept really well overnight and took a nice long nap this afternoon so he was in a better mood too!

Given the craziness that has been going on lately, we haven’t been keeping up all of our daily routines. One of the things we do at night as the boys are going to bed is pick up and put away all the toys. Everything has to have all of its pieces and parts and it gets put in the same place every day. Since things got all wildly unorganized, we pulled everything out of the box. It was a good time to wipe the toybox out and clean the toys as they got put back.

The boys were such good helpers!

All clean! Only two small pieces of things still missing. They can not have gone far.

Brendan had speech therapy today. I was worried about his mood and willingness the way things have been going this week. But he BLEW US ALL AWAY. I don’t know who this baby is and where is my Brendan. He was EATING green beans. It was monumental improvement. It is such a big deal, I have lots of pictures. I couldn’t decide which ones were the cutest, he looks so happy chomping on beans.

“Will this make you all clap too?”

We had to let Trevor play with some beans too, he is learning how to use a spoon himself. He ate most of his beans. He is not amused with all of the attention Brendan is getting.

More cute cute cute!

And of course, video evidence.

After he was all clean, he was worn out. He wouldn’t nap, so he just lounged and watched Yo Gabba Gabba.

Trevor likes when Brendan earns some quiet TV time.

We are on our own tonight (no nurse) so I hope Brendan sleeps well. No more sick nurses, they had better all get better quick!
Glenna, Eric, and the rest of that family.. we hope you all recover too. That stomach bug going around is a nasty one.
