March 24th – Sickie Chickie

Ashley had a pretty tough night. The fever in her system has her tummy upset, and even though she ate a good dinner, she couldn’t keep it down. She got a bath at 10PM, and we did laundry at 10:30PM. Then she woke up at 5:30AM and got me. Her temp was 104 degrees! I took her to the sick call at our pediatrician’s office while Kayla hung out with Gramma (thank you Gramma!!!!!). The verdict was……..either a nasty respiratory bug or a strain of flu not in this year’s vaccine. The only difference between the two would have been a swab up her nose to test for influenza. We didn’t bother. It didn’t change how I would treat her today. It doesn’t change that until she is fever free for 24 hours, she is contagious and not going anywhere. Unless we get some miracle recovery tomorrow morning (unlikely), then Pittsburgh will have to wait. Good thing it wasn’t airline tickets to AZ – we had considered that for this week off!

Once we got back to Gramma’s house, I ran to Target to pick up a few tummy friendly foods like Phineas & Ferb soup. Ashley was so miserable and cold that she could hardly move her arms, so to eat a small bowl of applesauce she used a straw!! Check out the baggy puffy eyes.

  1. Poor Ashley! The pictures don’t even show how sick she is, and how bad she is feeling. I am hoping that she feels better very soon, and she will be able to have some fun on Spring Break.

It was nice to see Kayla, but wish it was for better reasons. Even when things don’t go as planned, the girls handle the changes with great attitudes, and acceptance. Once again, I am proud to be their Gramma!

Get well, Ashley, and stay well, Kayla. I hope I will see you soon!
    Love and hugs,
    Gramma

  2. I sure hope that you get lots and lots of rest and beat that nasty bug soon. I am sorry you had to get sick during spring break, that is always a huge bummer.

  3. Good Morning from the frozen, Lake House!! Oh Ashley, soooo sorry you are obviously not feeling well!! Lots of children at our school have had the same illness…it is a miserable one 🙁 Here’s hoping that you are feeling a lot better by now!! And here’s hoping that the family is OK and can help you get better and have fun for the rest of spring break!! 🙂 I personally am truly enjoying this time off. Due to Hurricane Sandy, all of our holidays, conference days, etc. (except this week and Memorial Day) had been removed from the school calendar and we will be in school through June 25th. I feel badly for those students who are home now with the same thing Ashley has, then returning to school for the long haul until summer break. Ashley, here’s a bunch of healing hugs and kisses, XOXOXOXO !!!! Hugs and love to the rest of the family!! 🙂

  4. Good Morning and HAPPY EASTER from the east Coast!!! Checking in and hoping everyone is OK and enjoying this Easter morning!!! Hugs, kisses and love to all of you!!!! XOXOXOXO 🙂
