March 31st – Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to all of our family and friends!

This marks the end of spring break. The girls and I have tomorrow off for Easter Monday, but it is back to school on Tuesday. We are also only 13 days away from Ashley’s birthday. This is a big deal of course!

Spring Break did not turn out as planned, but it was still good. We accomplished many of the same goals. We drove around, we played with a boy cousin, we slept in, we watched videos, we played video games. We just did it in Illinois. One of our days was spent playing with Caleb. We dug out the Little People sets that Kayla and Ashley had loved so much as little girls. We had saved them all, because they are really not “boy” or “girl” toys, and being all plastic means they are durable. We brought over a few things to see what Caleb thought.

He liked them!

He played so nicely for hours with the toys we brought.

So, we dug around deeper and found out bigger box of Little People. We picked up 5 more 58qt storage boxes, and separated the people into sets at Mom’s house. This way, she can pull out a different box each time Caleb visits. He won’t make an overwhelming mess, and the toys will feel new a lot longer.

Here we are sorting out the people, followed by tired girls and 6 boxes of people sets!

Caleb will be a very busy little boy!

Easter Sunday was busy at church. Ashley had class, but Kayla’s grade stayed in the service. It was a good service, although Kayla realized she had outgrown her dresses. We had to make do with the one dress that fit her. Then we realized that she had no tights! So….she wore a pair of MINE!!!!!! Yes, she is getting THAT TALL that she could start raiding my things. Of course, stretchy tights are easy to share. But still!!! Ashley had a new outfit.

We went to Mom’s house for Easter ham. We got to see Aunt Lillian and Grandma. Kayla played clarinet for everyone.

You can really see how tall Kayla is getting. We had to change our arrangement because she was blocking Kevin!

We send out good thoughts to Brendan for good progress with his new challenge to upgrade to a “wireless” version! We send out good thoughts to Gramma for her knee. We send out good thoughts to all of our other family who are not feeling so great.

  1. I’m sorry the trip to Pittsburgh had to be canceled, but I’m grateful for the extra time that I got to spend with Kayla and Ashley. They are very special girls and a joy to be around. 🙂

Thank you for the loan of all of the Little People sets. I’m sure Caleb will have hours of fun with them. We have to get a bunch of batteries! Kids toys use a lot more of those than when you big girls were little! You used to make your own sounds. 😉

Love to you all and lots of hugs,
    Gramma

  2. Wow, it is like Caleb won the Little People lottery! It will be good if they keep him busy because it makes it a lot easier on Gramma.

Poor Kayla, I hate when you need something nice and you realize that none of your clothes will work. Good thing you can now browse in mom’s closet!

I hope you had a great Easter, it looks like Ashley is feeling much better!

  3. Good Morning from the East Coast!! It is such a relief to see Ashley looking wonderful and the rest of you equally wonderful!! Kayla, I remember the time that your cousin Carrie started raiding my wardrobe…I was lucky that our shoe size was not the same! We are back to school today, another make up day for Hurricane Sandy closures! Sure could use this rainy Monday off! 🙂 How great is that…Caleb loving the same toys you girls enjoyed growing up!! It’s fun, kind of like now you can enjoy them all over again!! Sending hugs and love!!! 🙂

  4. Great pictures !! 🙂 🙂 Especially the one with Kayla, Ashley, and Caleb. They look like they were really having fun with the “little people” sets. 🙂 🙂
