Week 13 – Day 7

Quick post today! The boys had a great day today. Brendan had a few episodes but overall he was feeling better. Gramma arrived safely, escaping the Chicago weather before it caused any trouble. She moved in and scooped up babies really quick!

Brendan just chillin’ in his sling. He really finds it comfortable. I don’t know if it is helping him otherwise, but he sleeps very well in it.

Week 13 – Day 6

It was another day of major ups and downs. Brendan had an awesome night. He seems to really be comfortable in the new sling. It keeps him feeling a bit swaddled but lets him be fairly cool. He still refluxes but recovers more quickly. He slept through almost the whole night, all I had to do was change his pump and give him a dry diaper every few hours. But then this morning he was ultra cranky, irritable and upset quite a bit.
By the afternoon, he had a pretty calm stretch so I tried to hold him and give him a bit of a bottle. He had such a bad reflux that he gagged really violently and up came most of what he had eaten the whole day. The poor kid was miserable.
But once we got him cleaned up, he was feeling really good again. With the exception of getting mad if he gets handled too much for diapers and whatnot, he has been pretty peaceful all evening. His little tummy must have been hurting him a lot. His home care nurse visits in the morning for a weight, we will see how he is doing. I will have to call the GI doctor back and see if he wants to change anything.

Trevor has had a good day. He is smiling like crazy now, just not for the camera. I would say I upgraded to the bigger diapers just in time with him, but the bouncy seat cover is in the wash for the second cycle.

If the weather permits, Gramma will be back tomorrow evening! We all hope it is a good flight!

Week 13 – Day 5 – Update 2

Take that, $80 Tucker Sling. A few cut up blankets, some recycled velcro, and 30 minutes of sewing machine fumbling later and we are good to go. No waiting for shipment either. Brendan was pretty unhappy when I put him in here, but within a few minutes, he was sound asleep. It has not prevented his bad surges of reflux, but it helps him keep it down out of his sinuses to have gravity on his side. We are able to elevate the mattress to about 20 degrees angle and now he won’t slide or roll down the hill.
I did a very crappy sewing job just to get this done asap. If it works well for him, I will remake it nicer with room to grow.
