Week 44 – Day 2

Some days are exhausting. Trying to do everything that we did yesterday with only one person managing the two boys is pretty much impossible. Brendan still got lots of chances to work on new skills, but both boys have to get little lessons in sharing Mom.
Trevor has learned that when he cries from his crib, he adds “Mmmmoooommmaaaaaaa!!!!” Mmmoooommm!!!” It is so sweet and sad at the same time and yet I know that if I give in to it, then he has won! He did manage to avoid his afternoon nap today so he went to bed fairly easily tonight.

Keeping Trevor occupied means finding new things for him to look at and hold. In this case a big spoon held him for about eight minutes so I could take care of Brendan.

We put the extension that Gramma bought on the baby jail. It was a definite upgrade! It filled up with toys really fast.

“Come on, you are going to miss lunch!”

Brendan made a big leap today in his food training. I put some of Trevor’s peas on Brendan’s tray. He smooshed them around and liked it! He even put his fingers in his mouth and tasted the peas. He didn’t really eat them off of his fingers, but he didn’t make a face or get mad or gag. It was a real good step in the right direction.

“Hey, bro, am I doing this right?”

“Such an amateur”

Brendan loves Trevor, he is just so amused to see him moving and hear him talking. Trevor is busy formulating his escape plan and figuring out how to sit down! I witnessed him putting his little toes up in the gate like he was going to climb it today too. Trouble!!

Week 44 – Day 1

We all had a good day today. Trevor’s prunes worked and I kept him comfortable with lots of good bitey toys so he had a much better day. Turns out he likes shake n bake pork chops too, he would not leave my plate alone while I tried to eat.
Brendan had a very busy day and LOTS of playtime with his nurse today. It was a very good thing to see. He enjoyed all of the attention! I actually got TWO naps in today, which is good because I was just going to fall over otherwise.

Brendan successfully completed another 4hrs off vent, and rocked it! He is doing so well! I am so relieved to have a day nurse that will treat him like a real baby. He worked on sitting up, rolling, reaching, and tummy time.

And he liked it!

He has a new daily mission, pick off the pulse oximeter probe

He can’t sit on his own yet, but his reaching is getting stronger and stronger

Trevor liked the extra Mommy time today a lot. He just felt better all around, but he was up late tonight.

“I think there is something in the high chair with me! Hold stilllllll….”

It is his new Yo Gabba Gabba buddies! Both boys LOVE this show. If Brendan is asleep and hears the little opening chime and the footsteps, he pops up and cranes his neck to see the TV.

“So where is D.J. Lance?” He is actually Trevor’s favorite part of the show.

As I am typing this, the sky opened up and the rain is pouring down. There are huge thunder claps too. Both boys are sleeping through it! Whew!

Week 43 – Day 7

Today was a day all about teething. Trevor was just a mess of frustration and pain this afternoon, although we did learn that ibuprofen works better than acetaminophen. He couldn’t take his naps, he had a hard time drinking his bottles. He was clingy but couldn’t get comfortable. He didn’t want ice, maybe it was too cold.

Finally I found something that worked. I gave him half of a cold firm peach that he could gnaw on. He LOVED it. He could scrape little bits off with his sharp little bottom teeth and he could bite on the not-as-cold-and-softer-than-ice peach.

Brendan is going to get some big top teeth. They are trying to push through, he just has big dark bruises on his gums so far. He is doing so well in trusting me to touch his mouth, he let me push his lip back for this picture!

Since I don’t have a ton of pictures today, this one is from yesterday. Gramma took a picture of them while they were video chatting to the baby shower.

Our new nurse started today, and Brendan seems to like her better than the last one so far. He successfully completed his 4hr sprint today. He seemed pretty tired all day, but he still did some rolling, sitting up and playing, and tummy time!
