Week 42 – Day 4

We had another surprise doctor’s appointment today. If they hadn’t called to confirm last night, I would never have known about it! It was another one that was arranged when we left the hospital in May. This time it was to see the GI doctor about feeding and nutrition.

This is what it takes to leave the house with Brendan (giant stroller not pictured). It is a super tight fit in the truck but we manage it somehow.

In the car, keeping the sun off of Brendan

The whale stroller still carries it all

The appointment went very well. The doctor was amazed to see Brendan, he hadn’t seen him since January. He is so pleased with his growth and excited for his surgery. We need to increase Brendan’s food intake a bit over the next few days to try to get him bigger and stronger before surgery day.

Back at home, Trevor is feeling lazy. When you are too tall for the jungle, you can just put your feet up and kick back.

Or just put your head down anywhere when you are overtired

Once Trevor left to eat dinner, Brendan got a turn in the jungle

Trevor’s floor time is tough without baby jail. He knows just where he wants to go and he wastes no time getting there! I love the talking.

The other cool thing we did today was put up new baby monitor cameras over the crib. I am so excited about this, it gets me out of the corner by Brendan’s crib and lets me keep eyes and ears on Brendan while getting things done. The camera allows me to view it from my phone, or even my TV. It has infrared so I can see clearly in the dark. If I put Trevor to bed awake, I can sit and let him toss and turn and keep an eye on him so I can go get him if he is trying to stand or cause trouble.

The IR images can be creepy. Watching Trevor when he thinks he is alone is so cute. He plays with his aquarium and rolls all over the crib.

Week 42 – Day 3

This is one of those days that needs to get swept under the rug and forgotten. It should be no surprise that Brendan was miserable after immunizations, but he really had a very hard day. I just couldn’t get him to smile.

Super high heart rate, lower than normal sats, sweating and lots of crying, no matter how much Tylenol and Ibuprofen he had. I had to call the doctor and he reassured me that he would be OK and it was not unusual for a baby like him getting his shots. As long as there was no high fever, we just had to “hang in there” and he would get through it.

He was “hanging in there with Daddy” watching Finding Nemo this afternoon.

Brendan gets to watch movies but for Trevor it was nothing but work work work. Look at this pile of laundry we made him do!

It took me five hours to get that whole basket of laundry folded. Lots of interruptions today!

We rewarded Trevor’s labor with an amazing lunch. Vegetable rotini for the win!!!!!!!!!!

Mommy is obviously an amazing cook, this stuff rocks!!

Yumm!! Even Brendan was interested.

I have to post this relaxed, happy Brendan from tonight so that his nurse, Sherelle, does not worry about him all weekend. He enjoyed his bath and went to bed like a usual night. Hopefully he sleeps through the next whole nurse shift.

At the end of the day, there was one piece of laundry left and no space in the drawers! I just had to dump it in the crib.

Week 42 – Day 2 – Daddy’s Birthday!!!

This morning, Bill had to go to the dentist (the best thing to do on your birthday, of course). While he was gone, I attempted to take an awesome birthday picture that I could use to surprise him later. The boys were just not in to it! They were very distractible and Trevor was hungry!

I could only get one smile at a time and they almost never looked at the camera, they are learning!

Lil B says “oh no Trevor, you are going to ruin it!”

“c’mon Trevor!!”

CHOMP!

I guess we are done with the signs!

“You know you look ridiculous, bro”

“Hey, look in the mirror, bro!”

Morning antics aside, we had a seriously uneventful day. Brendan was taking advantage of a tired Daddy.

Then at 4:30PM, we took the boys both to the pediatrician for their 9 month checkup and SHOTS!

Trevor was 20lbs 9oz and 30inches long! That puts him in the 90-95% for height and 45-50% for weight. He is long and skinny! He eats everything in sight, the doctor said start giving him table food.
I had a baked potato with butter and cheese on it tonight and I will tell you that Trevor thought that was mighty tasty even though he did not like the plain mashed potatoes the other day!
I was so proud of Trevor, he only had to get one shot in the leg and he did not even cry! He was a good boy. The doctor said that he has three more teeth right about to break through – the other bottom one and the two on top!

The doctor was extra proud of Brendan. He needed four shots today and handled it like a champ. He only cried a short time and then fell asleep for the ride home. Brendan was 18lbs 12oz and 28.3 inches long. That puts him at 45-50% for height and about 20% for weight. But he is on the charts! It is a good thing.

To wrap things up, here is a little video from today of the double trouble just doing their things.
