Year 2 – Week 6 – Day 2

This felt like Saturday all day long because it was a little bit more relaxed than a typical Friday. It is really a big difference to have an extra adult in the house!
We are pushing Brendan at the end of his drug weaning and you can totally see it on his face. He was tired all day and refused to nap, he HAD to know everything going on in the house and just would not relax if he thought someone else was in the room. He did an ok job with speech therapy today, even though it cut short the one good nap that he was going to have.
Trevor had a great day and just thought he was something special getting extra attention. He took two great naps today too.
Gramma took tons of pictures, it is hard to pick out the ones to use!

There are always bathtime antics in the morning.

Brendan had big ups and downs. One minute he would be all laughs and silly and sounding good and the next he would be retching, coughing, and looking like he would pass out. He loved scritching and pounding on his balloon from his birthday last month. This balloon is still floating up to the ceiling!

There was a little competition for attention this morning.

The boys both are learning how to give high fives!

Trevor begs Gramma to be let out of baby jail

Not only has Trevor figured out that he can get on to the couch by himself, he also likes to get in and out of his toybox.

Trevor runs with the chomp and clack

Brendan loves when Trevor is coming right for him with it!

Brendan likes to play with it too.

Trevor has this elaborate dance with the corn popper, it was like some kind of choreographed popper-twirling routine

We are all worn out from all the excitement today. Hopefully Brendan feels better tomorrow.

Year 2 – Week 6 – Day 1 – Return of the Gramma

She made it safely! Trevor and I picked her up from the airport.

They accidentally both wore blue/gray plaid, although Trevor talks on the phone a lot so they might have coordinated. Trevor obviously remembers her!

And then the tickling started!

Trevor tells her his stories about what goes on around here when she is away. Where is Brendan to shake his head and laugh?

Brendan was happy to see Gramma too!

Trevor thought Brendan’s turn saying hi was too long

He was just going to climb his way up.

We got home through rush hour traffic just in time to get Trevor fed. He ate a big dinner of teriyaki chicken, broccoli, and raspberries with a side of cheerios. 25 minutes later, he proceeded to help himself to half of Gramma’s dinner too. He kept standing up and stealing her cheese sandwich.

The boys had a full day already and were pretty tired tonight. It will be fun when they wake up and have someone to play with tomorrow.

Year 2 – Week 5 – Day 7

Our night nurse was sick last night with fever, so she had to stay away from Brendan and the rest of us so Bill and I were up all night half and half like we usually do Saturdays. We are trying to get past all this yuck, we can’t have the cycle start again. Trevor finally seems healthy, my cough is so close to being gone. Other than being tired from being awake so early, Bill is doing OK too.
It was doctor’s appointment day. Getting the stuff together for a big trip to the hospital is a lot of work, but the boys both did a great job. By this afternoon, Brendan seemed to be feeling a bit better and tonight he is showing big signs of improvement.
The doctor was so thrilled to see Brendan and thought he was doing great. Brendan is up to 22lbs, 2.5oz! He just might be passing Trevor up!! She did believe he may have a minor respiratory infection and prescribed a long term, low dose antibiotic to help him fight it off for the next six weeks.
The other big news is that she ordered Brendan a Passy Muir valve. We won’t go in to too much detail yet, but it is a special one way valve that will allow Brendan to make sounds when he is sprinting. When that comes in, we will post all kinds of info!

Brendan casually waiting in the lobby for his appointment. He stopped and picked up his Beads of Courage update beads, we have to update his string.

Brendan read clearly that he was just a VISITOR and that he was not staying at the hospital! He behaved so well for his checkup.

Nom nom!

Just getting checked out. Brendan takes up the whole double whale stroller, Trevor had to come in his own ride! Brendan spent the whole time pulling off his socks.

Trevor says, “Here, pull mine too!”

They love the car ride

I wouldn’t normally put a video like this up, but Brendan just makes it too funny to leave out. He is trying to tell you not to believe a word Trevor says! Trevor makes really funny faces at himself in the mirror too.

I like how the sun was hitting his hair!

We have a fill-in nurse tonight, but she has covered for us once before. Hopefully Brendan will sleep well.

Super healing vibes to Gramma, Great-Grandma, Sherelle and everyone else we know that has had illness, injury and surgeries lately. Enough of hospitals already!!
