It kind of feels like we are just hanging in there until we get to go see the doctor tomorrow, Brendan is just not right. He needs a lot of breathing treatments. We can’t wait to see what they want us to do tomorrow.
Trevor and I are slowly getting better and better. Today we made up for lost time the last few weeks and I busted my butt carrying Trevor around while cleaning, putting things away, throwing things away, and organizing.

Brendan worked on his bench sitting skills from PT

It forces him to use his legs and work on new balance techniques.

“Hey, Trevor, get out of my stuff while I am doing my PT!”

Trevor was forced to fold epic amounts of laundry today.

He must have climbed in and out of the baskets 100 times.

The idea was that Trevor would have a little pile of Cheerios on his snack table. He obviously had a different idea.

Our whole family sends love and hugs to Gramma to recover from a rough procedure today. We hope she feels better very quickly. We hope Great-Grandma is on the mend too. Everyone just needs to get well and stay well! We have already had enough sick for this season!

Year 2 – Week 5 – Day 5

Well today was an improvement. Brendan was pretty restless and yucky all night but this morning he woke up and did a really good job with his PT. He was in a good mood all day even though he needed several breathing treatments and lots of suctioning. Tonight as he is going to sleep for the night, his O2 sats are a couple points above where they have been hanging all week and we are happy to see that bounce back. He is off the steroid now and has a couple more days of rest on his drug weaning so hopefully he can have a couple of nice days.
Trevor slept in, but then had some napping issues today. If he gets good sleep and good naps, he is just the sweetest little angel baby. If he gets tired, he is just super super sensitive emotional baby and he gets very clingy.
He skipped his morning nap and then decided 45 minutes was enough this afternoon. I have to figure out his new routine!!

The boys played so cute together today. Trevor tries to “suction” Brendan’s trach with the pull string from the helicopter toy. Otherwise, they were so nice to each other.

Trevor is going to show Brendan how to juggle!

“Just a second, bro, I am just going to tweak some settings for you while Mommy isn’t looking”

Oops, fell over in to the pillows again!

Trevor did a ton of chomp and clack today, back and forth across the living room. Hopefully that means he is tired and will sleep all night!

Year 2 – Week 5 – Day 4

There are some days that stress sets in and just gets a grip. I didn’t sleep well and Trevor was up really early and I was so tired, I just couldn’t seem to catch up to the day. Trevor managed to sling an entire cup of coffee all over the floor to start the morning and it just went from there.
Brendan is just continuing with his withdrawal and is very quick to tantrum. He does this hold-your-breath cry fit and makes this horrible wheezing noise because he knows it gets to me. He saves it for when I have both boys demanding things and not enough hands.
We plodded through the day without too much event and the boys had some good times. Trevor and I went to Sam’s Club and I was surprised at how not busy it was. It wasn’t even normal Sunday busy.
The biggest positive part of the day was buying a new vacuum. oooohhh Having a cleaner house does help everything feel better.

Trevor was playful today.

Brendan is showing off his new teeth. They are coming in fast and furious now, he has molars showing on the bottom and the 5th and 6th top ones on each side are coming in too.

I can see the top two side ones on Trevor and some molars look like they are starting. I have lost count now!

Brendan has outgrown the ironing board for bath and trach care so now I sit on the floor with him. I have gotten really proficient at doing the whole thing myself so usually he gets his whole routine in the morning. I just wish that giving him a bath every day wasn’t like setting up for a surgical procedure. I spend about 15 minutes gathering and prepping supplies and always forget one thing. I need to write my list down.

Sitting Brendan up in the tub is better for the splashing, but he still manages to throw lots of water.

These are the days we just need to take some deep breaths and know that it won’t always be like this. I look forward to the day when there are no more giant deliveries of medical supplies, no more suction machines, and no more alarms.

We wish Great-Grandma a quick recovery from her sprains and strains. We are going to have to get her an adult size chomp and clack so she can get around safely!
