Year 2 – Week 4 – Day 4

Last night is pretty much a blur, I felt pretty miserable trying to stay awake and take care of Brendan. I remember staring at the ceiling and trying to find shapes in the texture of the plaster to try to not think of my achy joints. I played Words with Friends with Gramma and Grampa Dusty until wee hours until they had to give up. Brendan woke at 12:30a and was ready to play! I went to bed just before 2 and Bill took over. Trevor slept until 7 with no wake ups all night!!! So I got up with Trevor and Bill was about ready to collapse so he went back to bed.

Surprisingly enough, I felt OK after I woke up today, just tired. I have been diligent about taking tylenol and it has helped a lot. Trevor had some issues today and was still pretty snotty but it was a MUCH MUCH MUCH better day than yesterday. He was back to his naughty self, but still clingy and crabby.

If you take your eye off of Trevor, he is going to slip in to tight spaces, escape baby jail and get in to peril.

I am constantly having to find new ways to fill the gaps. Then he just has to watch the dogs play outside.

Poor Brendan was having some jealousy issues while I had to take care of Trevor. He gives attitude!

Lunch time today: Brendan gets all the same stuff as Trevor on his tray. He has to keep playing with food and getting used to the smells and textures.

He was still beaming with pride because he stole Trevor’s paci

Super cute Trevor trying to turn around in his chair.

His tooth coming in on top is giving him a lot of trouble.

I love this video, there is a lot going on here. I had to watch it back several times myself!

Trevor did lots of “chomp and clack” walking today. He loves it. But he will always find some unintended way to use a toy.

He was kind enough to help Brendan play with it too.

“This is where the chomp part comes in?”

Trevor returns the favor today

If Brendan is not in the bouncy chair, Trevor L O V E S to play on it. He charges across the room to get to it. He just needs constant spotting because he goes a little crazy and sits in it all kinds of ways. He jumps on it and scares me!

Like I was saying..

Hopefully Trevor has another good night of sleep! We all need it!

Year 2 – Week 4 – Day 3

Not sure what I ever did to deserve a Saturday like this one! It was supposed to be an easy day.
Brendan’s short issue with his sats seems to be gone at least, he is back on his normal O2 level and was in a pretty good mood all day. So that is good news. He did break out in a prickly rash this morning, but I am pretty confident it is just from being too hot and sweaty in his pajamas that we left on too long. We are keeping an eye on it.
Trevor woke up super stuffy, big thick snot running out of his nose, and having to breathe through his mouth. In addition to starting up the cool mist humidifier, we did some saline spray and nose sucker treatment and that helped him at least get through the day and drink his bottles. But combined with a top tooth breaking through, stuffy nose, and waking up at 2am, he was just a mad mad baby today.
He cried so much, I wanted to cry myself. Just when I thought I couldn’t take it another minute, he finally fell asleep. It only took big standing, rocking, and bouncing movements and singing for about 30 minutes. I thought my lower back was on fire.
The cough I have had since the boys got sick in October has still been lingering and today it fired up so much, I very nearly got Brendan’s mist collar machine out to breath in. By the time I put Trevor down, I had a fever of 100.4 and I was so cold, 4 layers of blankets was not enough. Bill was running a low temp too. So far no temp from either of the babies.
Bill watched Brendan so I could get about an hour rest after some Tylenol and fortunately the fever broke. Trevor climbed under some covers with me and had his dinner sitting on my lap and he went to bed early. I expect to hear from him several times tonight.

This is our night without a nurse, so I have taken some more Tylenol and a 5hr energy and am shooting for about 1am and then Bill can take over.

Not too many pictures today. Trevor was just lying around with a bear.

And then he got squished.

Brendan really loves the corn popper. He almost got from sitting up to a hands and knees position all by himself today because he was trying to reach it. I can’t even imagine what we will do when he is able to crawl. We will be untangling fools.

He tries to do it himself

And then he gives up and just bites it.

With the holiday coming up, we are going to have some shifted shifts and fill in nurses, it ought to be an interesting week. Let’s just hope everyone can get and stay healthy. My doctor always told me that the Monday following Thanksgiving was the busiest day in her office because of all the people that traveled and got together with large crowds to share food. All the shared viruses pop up symptoms Sunday and Monday.

Year 2 – Week 4 – Day 2

I had the boys all to myself today while Bill volunteered at a local non-profit that provides meals for the homeless, a group event organized every year by his employer.

The boys were very good to me today, I thought for a moment that while I slept, someone had come and traded out my sneaky, silly, trouble-finding, high-drama babies with well behaved ones. Trevor slept 12hrs straight, no wake-ups at all and he still took a 2hr nap today!

They stayed in jammies late and just played after breakfast.

Lame attempt to block Trevor from peril. (Wish it was that easy)

Since I had to stay with Brendan, Trevor got a living room bath this morning. He loved it. He loves any bath.

Brendan did a 180 today for the speech therapist. He was all about playing with green beans and making a total mess. He even showed her how he will take a bite.

“What? Green beans are better than carrots!”

“I am just going to pull this as soon as you walk away!”

The good behavior lasted most of the day. Trevor got a little cranky in the evening. His latest thing is that he likes to bend over backwards upside down. Then he tried it just sitting on the floor himself and he bonked his head. He has to learn the hard way I guess. But we have to hold him carefully because he will just throw back randomly. I am trying to break him of that.

Brendan says, “Don’t make me make the face again”

Trevor likes to lie down on Brendan’s floor pad, and tonight Brendan decided he needed a back rub.

“Ok, you are done, where’s my tip?”

Brendan’s sats have been hanging a bit low today, his oxygen is turned back up and then some. We aren’t sure what is up there. Everything else is great and he is in a good mood. We will have to see how he does overnight.
