Year 2 – Week 8 – Day 1

We have to start with a birthday wish for Aunt Heather K. We send love and hugs to her whole family today.

Our boys had a pretty nice day. Brendan is feeling much better and day by day, the withdrawal symptoms fade away. Trevor was such a good boy all day, I wondered what was going on with him!

Trevor ate breakfast next to Brendan’s pack n play, which Brendan loved because he could reach the tray to steal Trevor’s toys.

After Trevor’s bath, he had to be a big boy. He had his morning bottle while he watched some TV while I finished Brendan’s bath and trach tie change.

We all had to pile in the car to get Brendan to the doctor’s office this afternoon so that he could get his monthly RSV immunization. Trevor and I played in the van while Bill and Brendan went in to the appointment. Trevor had a blast crawling all over in the trunk and on the seats.

When we got home, Trevor went down for his second nap and woke up in time for dinner and a Christmas package!!

Uncle Kevin, Aunt Heather, Kayla and Ashley made the boys some tray/play tables. They are just like the ones that me and my sisters had from our Granddad.
Brendan immediately put his to use. He loves it!

He concentrates on play time!

Trevor has a different idea of what the tables are for. He crawled across them, up and down, on and off about 100 times until he got it right and could do it without stumbling.

Looks like Dr. Brendan is administering some medicine to patient Trevor on the exam table!

Trevor’s second nap went late so he was pretty wound up to go to bed, but finally relaxed. Brendan is snoring loudly while I am typing but he is restless. I am looking forward to sleep!

Year 2 – Week 7 – Day 7

We had a couple of big things happen today. First, Gramma had to say goodbye to the double trouble this morning and go to the airport at 9am. She had just enough time for one last Trevor breakfast and bath, and then some smothering.

The other big thing about today is that as of 6:00PM, it has been exactly one whole week since Brendan’s last dose of methadone. It has taken seven months of horrid withdrawal and lots of tears to get here. He has had a rough week with it finally being gone but he gets a little better each day.
He still has a long weaning/drug elimination road ahead. Ativan is the next target and I have read that it can be very bad too. All of these hard hitting drugs that got him through the first half of his life, now causing him to pay the price. It is very frustrating, but we trudge through one step at a time.

He got in his highchair to have lunch with Trevor but Trevor stood him up. Trevor slept right through normal lunch time! (which means no afternoon nap)
Brendan had to play with the cool blocks instead.

He dropped them on the floor one by one.

“oops!”

After dinner, a super tired Trevor and I walked a short way down the street to see the neighbor’s Christmas light extravaganza. Trevor really loves it. He loves the Christmas tree at home too, and got Daddy to lift him up high enough to see the star on top.

He will probably cry the day we take the tree down!

Year 2 – Week 7 – Day 6

There is no way to out-cute the awesome pictures from yesterday. We were too busy today to set up photo studio playtime again.

Brendan had his “mean” nurse that forces him to do his therapy exercises with playtime. He throws little tantrums for her now because he knows she will make him work.

But he is getting stronger, bit by bit.

He just wants to lounge in bed and play on his laptop!

Trevor says, “Hmm, what trouble do I get in to next?”

He likes to play with his little trucks

Trevor doesn’t realize the glass is empty. I was drinking Squirt and let him taste it, then he wanted the whole cupful.

Brendan prefers it to be empty.

Gramma has to get on an airplane tomorrow morning and go home to the cold cold. It will be very interesting to see what the boys do as they start to notice that she is gone this time!
