Year 2 – Week 14 – Day 2

What a day! Brendan is definitely making huge improvements every day as he gets used to the lack of drugs. He still has sleep issues. When I tried to put lotion on his legs, he screamed as if I was rubbing him down with broken glass. But he is starting to act more like himself and had an overall great day. Trevor slept really well overnight and took a nice long nap this afternoon so he was in a better mood too!

Given the craziness that has been going on lately, we haven’t been keeping up all of our daily routines. One of the things we do at night as the boys are going to bed is pick up and put away all the toys. Everything has to have all of its pieces and parts and it gets put in the same place every day. Since things got all wildly unorganized, we pulled everything out of the box. It was a good time to wipe the toybox out and clean the toys as they got put back.

The boys were such good helpers!

All clean! Only two small pieces of things still missing. They can not have gone far.

Brendan had speech therapy today. I was worried about his mood and willingness the way things have been going this week. But he BLEW US ALL AWAY. I don’t know who this baby is and where is my Brendan. He was EATING green beans. It was monumental improvement. It is such a big deal, I have lots of pictures. I couldn’t decide which ones were the cutest, he looks so happy chomping on beans.

“Will this make you all clap too?”

We had to let Trevor play with some beans too, he is learning how to use a spoon himself. He ate most of his beans. He is not amused with all of the attention Brendan is getting.

More cute cute cute!

And of course, video evidence.

After he was all clean, he was worn out. He wouldn’t nap, so he just lounged and watched Yo Gabba Gabba.

Trevor likes when Brendan earns some quiet TV time.

We are on our own tonight (no nurse) so I hope Brendan sleeps well. No more sick nurses, they had better all get better quick!
Glenna, Eric, and the rest of that family.. we hope you all recover too. That stomach bug going around is a nasty one.

Year 2 – Week 14 – Day 1

Now that we have wrapped up week 13 and a partial day, the boys are officially 1.25 years old. I can not even believe that 1/4 of the second year is already gone. They will be terrible twos in a blink!!

Brendan was noticeable better today. He was more mellow when awake, he would not startle and cry at every noise. He slept a little more, but his sleep is still restless and broken. He occasionally wakes in a bad panic.
He did not cry during his bath tonight, which he has done all week. He is still very sensitive on his skin. The lotion massage after his bath was always a good thing, now he hates it. He still makes crazy eyes and gets lost kind of spaced out in a zone for a while.
He is playing more and laughing more. He just looks a little wild when laughing!

One of the games he loves to play is peek under/peek over the crib rail. Back and forth, he will play for a long time. He likes to “accidentally” drop toys through the slot under the rail too.

He is back to laughing at loud noises instead of cringing.

Trevor was a little stinker today. He was a mix of playful, happy, tired, crabby, sad, naughty, whiney, and screaming. He ran through the whole spectrum all during dinner.

It was a long day. We have another sick nurse with a fever and cold/flu symptoms. Her shift is being covered tonight but most likely not tomorrow. I hope the boys are good to us.

Year 2 – Week 13 – Day 7

I suppose if each day keeps getting just a tiny bit better, than eventually we will get to the right place. Brendan had some better times today but he is still having such a horrible time in general. The biggest problem is that he just isn’t sleeping and he is so extra sensitive and everything is a bit overdramatic.

Trevor doesn’t seem to notice anything is different. He is just doing his own thing. He would not eat the little bites of apple that I cut up and cooked for him. He wanted to take bites himself like a big boy.

He got too messy at lunch and had to spend the rest of the day in pajamas. He had a very important essay to work on, so it was good that he was comfortable.

Brendan did smile and play some today, but his little eyes are so tired.

We just let him relax and watch a few movies.

Trevor enjoyed watching “The Lion King”

After avoiding a nap all day, I gave up trying and put Brendan on his tummy to play. He was not especially happy but he got in to it for a while. And then he must have just hit his wall because he just closed his eyes and was out.

Shame this little catnap only lasted about 15 minutes and he was up again.

He is sleeping on the floor next to me with a lullaby playing. Any tiny little noise will wake him. Good thing Trevor is in bed!
