Year 2 – Week 16 – Day 6

It was a hard day on everyone today. Bill had to work from home because so many people in his building are sick. Our day nurse and I had to take Brendan to the doctor for his monthly Synagis injection. We thought since it would be a quick appointment that we would leave Trevor with Bill.
While we were at the doctor, we remembered that Brendan still hadn’t had his vision screening because the last two times we were there, something prevented it. (Brendan sleeping and machine broken). They use this fancy handheld computer that does an analysis and measurement of the eyes. We waited for 45 minutes while the nurse tried to get it to measure Brendan. It kept saying she was too close or too far or his pupils were too small (too much light) or he would move or she would move. It just wasn’t working. We moved to a different darker room, we got his shots done, we tried again and again. I was just about to throw that device, I was watching the clock thinking that Trevor would be getting hungry. Brendan was so tired.
We finally did get a measurement (I took the device and held it myself, must be my steady camera hands!). It came back with a failure/out of range. His right eye is measuring a bit hyperopic/farsighted. All this means is that now we have to take him for a full eye exam with a specialist.

I almost forgot to mention that Brendan now weighs 25lbs 10oz!! He is less than a pound away from overtaking his cousin, Caleb now! He sees the GI doctor on Thursday so we will see what he wants to do with Brendan’s calorie intake.

We did finally get home just in time for oxygen refill delivery. The boys both took naps and got up just in time for occupational therapy. Brendan cried through the whole thing. He was just so tired! I don’t blame him, I was wiped out too!

He is still a drool factory, I was able to look in his mouth and he has a huge molar trying to break through on the bottom right and one that is just broken through on the top left. Poor baby!

The nurses do several routine assessments every shift including taking Brendan’s temperature. Trevor LOVES the digital thermometer and always makes it known that he wants it when he sees it in use.

He’s just going to take it!

Saggin’ pants, wrench in hand! He just needs a sink to work on!

Brendan gets to be the cute little pumpkin tonight!

He is going to drill those teeth out!

Trevor went to bed easily and Brendan stayed up until I was done with Trevor. Brendan fell asleep around 7:30 and then woke up again at 8 ready to play. He is tormenting Bill now by constantly trying to chew on his shirt collar and get it all stretched out and soaked in drool. He will accept no substitute!
