Year 2 – Week 40 – Day 4

It was another day of waiting – it takes Brendan a long time to bounce back from an illness. He had a pretty good day, but we continue with his breathing treatments and he is on 5L of oxygen to maintain his numbers. I would really like to see that go down soon!

This was the last day of his steroid medicine, which is good because it gives him trouble sleeping. He just finally fell asleep at 10:45p even though you could tell he was so tired. He was so restless.

Trevor and I went and did our usual Sunday grocery shopping trip. We noticed that the bucket-sized jar of Nutella was on sale so we picked it up for when his cousins come to visit. Trevor has never had it before, so I gave him a little on a spoon.

Thinking…

Signing “More”

Nutella, yogurt, and mustard beard… yummm

Mean mommy makes Brendan clean up Trevor’s mess

Getting his breathing treatment

Brendan took a late nap today, another factor in his not wanting to go to bed tonight. Of course he waited until Trevor was getting up from his nap before he decided he might fall asleep. So Trevor and I ran to Target so that Brendan could have quiet time. He loves to shop. He ate a good dinner and went to bed almost on time. He played in his room to get his wiggles out before bed.

I wonder where Trevor could be?

Surprise! Peek!

Run away!

Hopefully tomorrow will be a good turning point for Brendan and his numbers and his sleep will get better again!

Year 2 – Week 40 – Day 3

Nothing significant to report today – it was just more waiting for health to return. Brendan has not really changed at all, he is just hanging in there with his congestion and extra oxygen needs. We keep doing his breathing treatments. He is playing and active though, and that is a good thing to see.

He is going to figure out how this gate works.

But if he sees you looking, he will pretend he was just playing with his beads

It looked like there was going to be a showdown

Brendan was happy to help with his suctioning today. He now knows how to hold his thumb over the valve to make it work himself

He wanted to watch his video messages from his cousins a lot today

Look at this nice sharing!!

It looks like they are trying to solve word problems or something

This evening, Trevor had to have his “umbo”

He LOVES the beginning with the circus train

Got your tongue!

For as cute as all of the pictures are, they actually were little terrors when we tried to eat dinner. They hollered and screamed the whole meal!

Year 2 – Week 40 – Day 2

Today was all about recovery for everyone. Bill had a busy day at work, Trevor ran with me to the pharmacy to make sure we had everything for Brendan. I didn’t even realize until I was loading Trevor in the shopping cart that I had driven there in my house slippers. When the boys napped, I took a nap. I didn’t think to take many pictures.
We had a meeting with the home nursing company to do paperwork, we had new medicines to schedule, and cleaning up to do. But we tried to keep it low key.
The boys’ new favorite thing to watch while we are busy is Dumbo.

Brendan still needs breathing treatments, extra oxygen, and more suctioning, but he still impresses me very much with how well he is doing today. He did most of his normal play time activities, like climbing in to the box of tools

Trevor is adding floaties to Bill’s bottle of water

This has been a rough spell and leaves our heads spinning a bit. We will just continue to try to do the best for the boys and find ways to enjoy the journey.
