Year 2 – Week 47 – Day 1

Trevor was up several times during the night, crying a sad sleepy cry. He would go right to sleep again if I picked him up and rocked him but he would wake up shortly after putting him down. He was up at 11:30, 1, and 3 if I remember right.

We had no appointments or obligations today so I took Trevor on a new adventure. Our penny collection bin was overflowing, so we went to a Coinstar machine to cash them in. (If you cash them in for a gift card, there is no fee at all, you get your full value!)
In the past we have gotten Amazon cards, but that wasn’t an option this time so we selected iTunes instead. Trevor will have to use it to buy the rest of the Yo Gabba Gabba episodes we don’t have. There was almost $33 in pennies!!

Trevor really likes coins. He has a piggy bank and whenever we find change in the laundry, he puts the coins in his pig. He has never gotten to shovel coins in to his pig though. He had a blast.

Brendan had a very good day. He took his own pictures today using the camera on my laptop.

He found the button that adds an effect called “dizzy”. The birds are animated until you click the camera button to take the picture.

He liked the birds!

Brendan wore his PMV for more than four hours today. We started it while Trevor was out running errands. This afternoon after naps, he wore it while I was in the other room with Trevor. Trevor could hear Brendan and I tried to help him just play and ignore it.
We brought them together and for about 25 minutes, Trevor did a really good job tolerating the noise. But when Brendan started to cry, it was all Trevor could handle and he just sobbed and cried. We were very proud of both of them though, it was very good progress in the right direction.

There was extreme silliness in the house tonight but I didn’t get pictures. Bill was sitting on the floor in the middle of the room and the boys were crawling circles around him, chasing each other with laughing fits. But the true hilarity started when Trevor found four cotton balls. They were the coolest toy he has EVER seen tonight. He would gather them up, run across the room, then throw them as hard as he could with a grunt/squeal that could only be rivaled by a women’s tennis match. He would laugh, Brendan was laughing so hard he fell over. He would gather them up again and repeat, and this went on for at least 30 minutes!

Year 2 – Week 46 – Day 7

Early to bed, early to rise. Putting the boys down early last night meant that they were up and ready to go before me. Trevor was up at 6:45am.

I had a dental appointment this morning at 8:00am so I got Trevor fed and handed him off to Daddy. They played MegaBlocks, changed batteries in clocks, and tried to still work while I had my teeth cleaned. I went in fearing a huge list of work to do like root canals, but I had only one cavity that they were able to fill right then so I don’t need to go back.

I made it home in time for therapy, Brendan’s new PT came today with his new/old OT. He did an awesome job, was very smiley, showed off all his stuff and even went to the new PT and let her hold him. Amazing the difference in the therapy session. Hopefully now that we have a good crew, we will actually get somewhere again.

I was sore, tired, cranky, and had a killer headache most of the day so I didn’t take pictures until dinner time. I kept the boys happy while I tried to cook by letting them try out watercolor painting. They are very serious little artists.

I wasn’t quite done with dinner when they got tired of painting, so I gave them markers. Washable dry erase markers on high chair trays was awesome until Trevor bit the tip off the marker.

He wasn’t the only one trying to eat the markers

Since he loves water, and he loved paint water, I tried some orange juice on Brendan’s tray and I gave him some special “paint brushes”

He fell for it for a while, he even tasted the orange juice by licking his hand and he didn’t get upset!

Then he wised up. Bye bye fry.

We had a little impromptu clapping contest. It started with a polite golf clap. We both were clapping, waiting to see if the other would stop first.

It led to full crinkle-face crazy clapping. Brendan won.

Trevor is signing that it is time to take a bath (the sign is like pretending you are scrubbing your chest with two bars of soap, up and down)

Evening routine complete, two boys in bed. All is well and quiet, and Brendan is on 2L!

Year 2 – Week 46 – Day 6

Trevor had another rough day. I am not sure what exactly has been bothering him, but he is very emotional, easily melts down, and has been extra diligent about attacking his brother again. Maybe he is getting his molars, maybe not enough sleep. It is exhausting to handle him when he is feeling like this.

I tried to help the day by taking him to the duck park. It was only 82 degrees this morning but it was muggy. After all the rain we just had, duck park was more like duck beach! You could sit at a picnic table and soak your feet at the same time.

Trevor didn’t care either way, he just wanted to throw cheerios to the ducks

We did a few laps, but we had some sidewalk issues

I got Trevor a new kind of straw cup to try, but he immediately figured out that it was no drinking cup, but a milk bubbling device.

At least it kept him calm and entertained while I tried to make dinner

Brendan had a good day, I just didn’t get to spend much time with him. He had therapy today and did well enough, until I let him fall on his face and split his lip open. There was some blood but he got over it quickly. I only got a few pictures of him in the tub tonight.

Antics were high tonight, my patience was out and I put Trevor to bed early. Surprisingly enough, he did not protest. Hopefully we all can reset and have a better day tomorrow.
