Year 2 – Week 46 – Day 5

I am happy to report that we all survived this Monday! It was actually a long, unusual, fun, exhausting day. It started out with the never-ending storm that caused flooding everywhere, even in my own backyard.

This is the first time I have ever seen several inches of water on my patio, all the way up to the house. It even had its own current.

I took the boys out because Trevor wanted to splash in it, but we had to come in because the play mats were floating away!

It rained and rained and rained all morning. I had the boys busy playing with no TV on for hours. They were in good moods and laughing with each other, it was nice to see. I had to stay very active and keep them going. When crabbiness set in for the pre-lunch tired and hungry time, I had to resort to using Yo-Gabba-Gabba. I love my little dancer, he has some cute moves!

After it stopped raining, the temperature was 75 degrees! We had to take advantage of that and go outside! I got the bin of sand out for Trevor to play.

Brendan just wanted to ring the doorbell!

Brendan started to warm up to the idea of playing in the sand, slowly. They were outside for two hours!

I kept trying to move it closer to him, but he kept using his foot to slide it away!

The look

He likes to rub things on his lips and he makes the cutest little face with it!!

Trevor loved the sand…

But Brendan got more dirty!

The naughty monkey baby saga continues…

Let’s see how this “dinner” is going to go down

If I ask Brendan to touch the food, he will – with one finger for a half of a second. Then he smiles and wants you to clap for him.

Then if I don’t move it fast enough, he will touch it long enough to throw it

I got him to handle the bologna more by having him break pieces so he could give them to Eins. (no complaints out of Eins, the only thing falling from Trevor’s tray tonight was peas)

Brendan’s night nurse came in a few hours early tonight, which was good because I would have really struggled to get through bath and trach care time alone!
I am glad for days that are positive, even though my feet and back are killing me!

Year 2 – Week 46 – Day 4 – Happy Grandparents Day!

We want to wish a very happy Grandparents Day to all the Grandmas and Grandpas. We are very excited that Gramma is able to come out to visit again in October and help to celebrate the boys’ 2nd birthday.

Our usual Sunday morning grocery trip turned in to quite an adventure. It poured rain so hard all morning that there was poor visibility to drive and we got soaking wet going from the car to the store. We had to make a second stop for the diapers and extras at Sam’s too.

I am missing my big camera. With the gloomy rainy darkness, it is hard to take pictures inside without it. I should hear tomorrow about the repair.

Nothing better on a rainy day than a snack and a fuzzy blanket

Or chewing your favorite book

The boys are still loving their trains

If you take your eye off Brendan for a second, he is climbing now. Little naughty monkey baby is almost as bad as his brother

Tomorrow is going to be a challenge. I will have the boys alone from 8a-8p because of events at Bill’s work. They had better be nice to me!!

Year 2 – Week 46 – Day 3

We had a lot on our plate to do today. Bill had to start with the yardwork. In order to keep the boys busy while he was out front, I set up a new layout for the trains.

They played together nicely for quite a while. Brendan is still a Brendanzilla and wants to tear the layout apart. Trevor really enjoys trying to put the cars on the trains.

Peek-a-boo

Brendan tries to stop the trains from going by

After lunch and nap time, they were right back at it. This time, Daddy was mowing in the back yard

Brendan keeps trying to get on the table

Trevor tries to give the train a drink of his milk

This is Trevor’s favorite train because it hauls green recycle bins.

He makes cute sound effects as he dumps the bins in to the train cars

I noticed Trevor making signs that he was going to poop this afternoon, so I grabbed his potty chair. He didn’t have any problem sitting on it in the living room and he pooped one little turd in his potty! This is 9 or 10 days in a row that he has gone on the potty successfully. He felt so proud, he pulled the drawer right out and wanted to go flush his accomplishment.
While we were out of the room for just a moment to flush and clap, Brendan decided he should climb in

“This isn’t how you do it?”

Trevor knows just what the potty is for and what to do now. But he is still totally unable or uninterested in telling me he has to go BEFORE he goes. Small successes though, we will take it!

We got a small amount of purging done in the old office room today too. That is a huge undertaking, but we are eager to get that playroom finished so we can use it!!
