The biggest thing to be excited about today was Trevor sleeping until 7:30am. I guess the outing payed off after all. Then, of course, he did not take a nap today!!

Brendan had a little fun this morning. Because he has been doing so well on his cap with no oxygen, Bill took him along on an errand to Lowes.

Shopping is thirsty business. I love how he folds his legs in his seat!

While Brendan was gone, Trevor did a little remodeling in Brendan’s corner. The two year old name letters that came from the hospital are going bye-bye. Brendan has a new favorite thing – ROBOTS! So we got him some stick up robots like the ones we put up in Trevor’s room.

It was 108 this afternoon, but we had to get the boys out to run. Bill put up the big awning to make more shade and then we got out the sprinkler

Trevor is serious about his claim to this bubble mower. He is very possessive of it.

He doesn’t like to share the shopping cart either!

Almost!!!! He got the pedals moving today, but he needs to be just a bit longer!

Funny how the night I get the most sleep, I am having the most struggle to stay awake to type!

Today totally backfired on me. Brendan was up really early and still has symptoms of a little cold. I hope it is going away and not something new coming. We just can’t shake the bug around here. Trevor “slept in” until almost 6:30am. I decided to try to burn some of his energy and take him on a big outing.

All of the best splash pads around open at 10am. Ridiculous! By 10am, we are sealed up in the air conditioning and hiding from the sun. We found only one pad that opened at 7am and we had the whole thing to ourselves.

As we were leaving, a bunch of other kids and families were showing up, but the sun was getting brutal and it was already 97 degrees.

All fresh and dry, we stopped at the playground near the house. Trevor is improving his hanging and he is getting really good at swinging across monkey bars with a little support. It won’t be long before he will do it all by himself.

He was excited about a big grill spatula someone left and he pretended to cook pine cones.

I had to remind him that this was the only set of dry clothes I had packed, the park sprinklers came on.

The big backfire is that Trevor did not sleep one wink of a nap. I could not believe it. So I had an early riser that was physically exhausted, he was a walking meltdown the rest of the day. I did not get to take many pictures of Brendan because I was dealing with Trevor.
Brendan had a good day. He spent many hours without oxygen, went on a big bike ride with his nurse, and watched “Frozen” a couple of times.
He was lounging tonight while I put Trevor to bed early.

We have nothing cool planned for the weekend, just chores, projects and hopefully some SLEEP!

This is always an exciting day every year. It is the 3rd birthday of my very awesome nephew, Caleb. Happy Birthday to you, Caleb!! It is also the 2yr anniversary of Brendan’s homecoming following his very long and frightening stay in the hospital. I also was super excited because the lens I that ordered yesterday afternoon was delivered this morning!!

There were definitely ups and downs today. Trevor is still having trouble sleeping through the night. To be fair, his little nose still isn’t cleared up. He woke up at 4am, then at 5:15am and then decided at 6:30am that he was not going to go back to bed. He had a very cranky morning.

Brendan is back to needing oxygen today. He is a little wet and needing more suctioning again. The wireless days are so nice, it is hard going back to wires!

But then… “Hey, Eins? Interested in some olives?”

Trevor doesn’t like them either, good thing Bill and I do!

Brendan is always full of surprises. Tonight he tore into a buttery waffle!

The most frustrating thing about today was regarding Brendan’s new button. We thought it should be here by now, so Bill called both the GI doctor and the supply company. Apparently there was a miscommunication and it wasn’t shipped. The supply company promised to hand deliver one this afternoon, which they did.
I was getting all ready to prep Brendan for a button change when we opened the package. They sent the old brand/style that we are currently using!! What a waste of a delivery! Now we have to call tomorrow and figure out what is going on and try to get the right button. This should have been resolved by now! This is simply the story of Brendan…

To end on a happy note, at bedtime I warmed up Trevor’s milk which I don’t usually do any more. I made it a little hot. When it was safe to drink, I gave it to him and he took a sip. He looked up with surprise and said, “Mmmmm! This is COFFEE!!”
