Year 4 – Week 6 – Day 6

A picture may be worth 1000 words, but in this case it tells a totally fictional tale about the day.
We had about 20 minutes of fun in the rain and got some adorable pictures, but it was a real struggle to get through. Trevor did sleep through the night, but it wasn’t enough to make up for his week.

Here’s a few gems from Trevor today:

He woke up smiling, but he was very emotional and frustrated all day and threw big tantrums. I said, “What’s wrong, Trevor? I thought you woke up happy?” He says, “No! I woke up NAUGHTY!!!”

I was roasting this morning in fleece pajamas. While I was changing, I said, “Trevor, I am too hot in these pajamas.” He reaches out and touches my leg and says, “Whoa! You are actually hot!”

We were driving around trying to keep total nap-fail boys calm and we passed a nice green offroading Jeep with lots of upgrades on the freeway. I said, “Look Trevor, I would like to drive that Jeep.”
He says, “No!! It’s dangerous!”
Me: “What? Why?”
Trevor: “It isn’t safe. Green is yucky. You need a blue one!”

He found a nice big sheet of paper on the table and brought it to me and said, “I would like to ruin this.” At least he is honest.

I can’t wait until Brendan can tell us what he is thinking too. He had a lot to say today, but it all came out as, “Biiiiiig Robot!!!”

Brendan meets his in-home preschool teacher first thing tomorrow morning. I hope he feels well enough. It ought to be interesting.

Year 4 – Week 6 – Day 5

I don’t know where to start, it feels like weeks since the last post. Last night was the first night since Thursday that I slept in my own bed, and I had a little boy propped up on me. I have two sick little guys still trying to get healthy. Brendan’s nurses each missed two days of work this week due to illness.
Trevor has been up every night this week wheezing and gasping and coughing. We’ve rocked outside on the patio and taken hot showers and slept very little.

Last night I thought things were greatly improved but this morning was the worst yet. We had a little competition all day between me and the two boys about who could have the highest fever. Brendan’s mild coughing turned into a very bad cough and lots of yellow phlegm. So we had a little visit to their doctor.
Trevor got a powerful steroid to help him get a good night of sleep with no swollen airways. Brendan got an antibiotic.

Now it is time to get better.

It is hard to keep them happy when it is just me with two very clingy overtired babies. Power tools and boxes helped.

Trevor might be finally willing to give potty training another shot. Even though he felt awful, he wanted to wear his race car underwear and he kept them dry!

There is a video of the delirious sillies from last night. We have to find ways to smile.
