Year 4 – Week 19 – Day 1

We made it! We had to buy tickets way in advance for the annual travelling Lego Kidsfest. I was so worried that someone would get sick and we wouldn’t be able to go. We made it!

The event was at the football stadium out on the west side of town, so we had to get up early. The boys decided that the stadium looked like a giant spaceship.

They had some giant sculptures made entirely of Lego bricks. Brendan had his favorites. I wish I could have looked at them more closely, but chasing these boys took all my concentration!

There were hundreds of building stations with buckets upon buckets of all the different types of Legos. This was the Mixels area.
419bt06

This was the car building station. Brendan and I built a race car and then took it to the race ramps for a test.

All aboard the pirate ship! Pictured here are the boys friends’ Jack and Olivia. We saw them for all of 35 seconds and the kids all went in different directions. They didn’t have time for friends! Too much distraction!

“Let’s go, Brendan!”

These blocks are showing up everywhere we go!

Return to the Sea of Duplos, again
419t06

This was a “Master Builder” class where you had to construct a Lego structure and then test it out under the wrecking ball. The boys didn’t take the class, they just wanted to drop the wreckers.

There were so many neat characters and sculptures, but the boys wouldn’t stop for pictures.

The pictures make it seem serene and wide open. I tried to shoot when there were breaks in the people. This video captures the situation with a little more accuracy.

We only covered about 30% of the stuff to see and do this year, the boys were just not old enough to appreciate the rest. We will definitely go again! We wish we could have teleported some cousins out to join us.

We had to take some super overstimulated, tired and hungry boys out of there kicking and screaming. They did a great job all things considered. Then they did NOT nap on the 45min drive home!!
419bt20

They have actually had a lot of energy this afternoon. Where does it all come from!? Daddy took a nap, and Mommy needs one! I bet they fall asleep early tonight!

More big adventures tomorrow! We will need a few weeks to recover!

Year 4 – Week 18 – Day 7

Changes changes changes..

Brendan is about to start seeing two new therapists for an hour a week each (speech and feeding). At the same time, we just found out our PT is moving and we will lose him again and have to find someone new. (So bummed about that!)
Also, our day nurse worked her last shift yesterday and is moving on to a new job. We are presently declining a replacement person. Starting next week, Our night nurse will leave at 9am and then it will be just me and the boys until Bill is off of work!

We get by with Legos in separate rooms

As we get in to March, we will be starting the quarterly cycle of doctor’s appointments all over again. We have some super fun things planned too!

Year 4 – Week 18 – Day 3

It has been a hectic and busy weekend. Trevor has been battling croup and Brendan is still fighting mild “winter crud”.

Brendan had an appointment at the GI doctor today. He weighs just over 29bs and is 36.6in tall. They are OK with his growth but think he needs a little calorie boost so we will just be mixing his formula to a slightly higher density.

He was a good boy at the doctor’s.
418b08

This picture is before we found out that the doctor wanted some bloodwork to check to see that the formula is providing his nutrition properly. They will look at things like Vitamin D and iron and see if his supplementation needs to be changed. The blood draw wasn’t so easy, but it is done.

Trevor stayed home with Bill and helped him to put a new complete flush kit in our leaky toilet. I wish I would have taken a video when I got home of his description of what he did. He told me the old valve was broken and the chain was rusted and the flapper got old! It was so cute in his words.

This was Trevor yesterday trying to take a nap at 5PM!
