Week 50 – Day 4

I have some adorable pictures and videos and things to share for today, but it is a bit overshadowed by the fact that the boys’ Aunt Erin is in the ER trying to find an explanation for acute headache pain. They are putting her through hell with tests and have no answer yet. We will wait and hope for the best news – that she is feeling better and can go home. Brendan says she will need some beads!

This morning Brendan had an elevated heart rate, a bit of a temperature increase (not really a fever, just a little higher than usual) and he had a short bout of diarrhea. We are not really sure why, but he seems to have recovered quickly and he had a great afternoon.

Trevor woke up EARLY again. I got him at 5:15 and tried to rock him back to sleep, hoping with all my might that I could lay down for a few more z’s but he was ready to rock n roll.
He started his morning with his favorite things. TV remotes and Cheerios!

He was fidgety and tired and noisy and Brendan was trying to sleep so Bill decided to take him for a stroll while it was still really nice outside. Trevor needed to inspect the stroller ‘under the hood’.

And he checks the safety system too!

HAHA! Success! Enough walking and he was out cold for about an hour and a half. Of course by then, the night nurse had gone and Brendan was awake so no more sleep for me!

He chugged his bottle for Daddy

We opened up baby jail for a bit of a different configuration today. Trevor loved it because it gave him his play area with all his toys and the freedom to explore but it kept him away from the entertainment center and the kitchen and the power outlets.

Trevor is now able to climb out of the jungle so it is not safe for him to be there without constant supervision. It does make an effective barrier between the couch and the wall though, it keeps him from his constant mission to get to the dog’s food.

He was a blur all over the room, loving his freedom. He took a good afternoon nap, and went to bed tonight like a good little boy!

With Brendan’s issues this morning, we decided to just let him rest today, he did not do any sprint. He took it easy and had extra fluids to try to make up for so much output. He loved sitting in his high chair and playing laptop.

He heard from his brother that laptops are for biting

I almost boxed up outer space today but thought I would let Brendan try it again. He loved it! I guess I can’t get rid of it yet!

Brendan can get very silly and it just makes me feel silly too. His little smile is infectious. He was determined to close the wipes!

We are so happy we are not on our own tonight, Brendan will have a nurse so we can sleep. Tomorrow we still have to cover the night.

As of this blog writing, the last I heard about Erin is that they are most likely going to admit her until they can get an answer. CT done and clear, spinal tap was unsuccessful so fluid could not be tested, blood work done, now they are planning an angiogram! We hope that she is able to get SOME rest. Hospitals are the worst places to try and sleep. We all are sending our best to Erin, Jules and Caleb for a quick recovery.

Week 50 – Day 3

We had nowhere to go today, just rest was on the agenda. (Bill had to work though)
The boys didn’t figure rest should be very restful, they were wild and crazy as usual. We have determined that Trevor is going to take the whole house apart and put it back together again. Brendan will cheer him on.

I just have a few quick pictures and then and I am going to have to pick up Brendan who is stirring from sleep again.

This is what happens when someone thinks he is big enough to only take one nap a day. Refusing his morning nap led to a lunchtime crash! With each bite, his head dropped lower and his eyelids got heavier.

Brendan had a secret plan to skip naps too, but he ended up sleeping a lot. He was off vent for almost 6 hours and was very tired so we put him back on. We’ve pushed him pretty hard, and we are so proud of him!

I need to sleep tonight and dream of creative ideas to give Trevor an outlet for his energy. He goes and goes and goes non stop, room to room, and gets in to everything. I hid toys for him and he really seemed to like the challenge. I can’t wait until they are both on the move!

Week 50 – Day 2

I have too many cute pictures to share today!

It was in the low 70’s outside this morning so I jumped on the chance to get out for some fresh air. We put Brendan on an HME and loaded up the stroller for a walk. We stayed fairly close to the house on our first outing, we will maybe go around the block next! That is such an accomplishment! The boys had a great time, but Trevor wanted his socks off!

Aunt Beth and Uncle Steve were here to visit this morning before going home tomorrow. The boys managed to sleep through the majority of their time with us, but woke up long enough for some cute pictures.

This afternoon, we had a follow up with the GI surgeon. The boys didn’t know where we were headed, but they usually like the car. Brendan like to get out of the house.

Trevor loves his Burts Bees lip balm. He had an epic meltdown when I tried to take it away from him.

Brendan had some fun crinkle paper to play with at the doctor’s office, which was good because we sat in that exam room for an hour and a half waiting for the doctor.

Three minutes of examination, and we were headed home! The doc was very happy with his incision and his feeding port. We don’t have to go back for any more checkups there now unless there is some kind of problem.

We are all wiped out from a busy day out in the heat. Brendan did the whole Dr. trip wearing his HME and no vent! He is exhausted!
