Week 36 – Day 7

We had quite an adventure today. Brendan managed to throw up his tube again this morning right before we were going to leave for the hospital for his tests. I had a very hard time getting it put back in this time and he got really upset right before his travelling. Just when I was ready to give up, it went down, and we got out the door just in time.

Brendan had his contrast study of his colon in order to prep for his upcoming ostomy reversal surgery. Not many people can say they have been told that they have a beautiful colon, but Brendan can. The doctor doing the test thought everything looked great. This xray shows how much improvement his lungs have had, how “beautiful” his colon is, and what perfect placement we got on the feeding tube. All good news!

He also had bloodwork that was all good and he has reduced 5 more doses of drugs from his daily routine, 3 things have been eliminated. He handled everything so well! He came home to a couple hours of nap and then he had physical therapy. He also started a daily dose of Singular to help dry him up a little and maybe prevent some of the tube hurling mornings.

This is Aunt Shannon’s last night here. She had to spend the whole day with Trevor while Brendan was getting his tests done. She spent a lot of play time this evening with both boys while Brendan could keep his eyes open. We wanted to put both boys in matching firetruck pajamas but they were too tired. So Brendan got to be the “fire” in a blanket and Trevor was the firefighter in jammies.

When Brendan thinks something is really silly, he doesn’t just smile, he crinkles his nose up. This is a full crinkle for Aunt Shannon.

The boys will miss her I think, she spoils them!! (you just can’t help it, they are overwhelmingly cute!)

Week 36 – Day 6

The pictures tell the story today.

Brendan woke up in a good mood and had some donuts.

He played with Gramma

The boys got ready for a video chat with their Uncle Jon. Brendan was excited but Trevor was ready to get out of here!

They really enjoyed their chat though. They find The Bearded One fascinating.

Trevor had to interrupt his chat time to have lunch. But who is this baby with the mustache? Must be the evil twin!

It’s just green beans!

Uh oh, caught trying to drink frozen coke!

Trevor started hollering when he came back to finish chatting. It gives Brendan a headache!

Crabbie ear muffs make it all better!

Oh oh, what has happened here?

“Haha! Nothing on my cheek!” Poor Brendan did have to have his feeding tube put back in and retaped.

Trevor does his floor exercises.

Brendan gets a bath in a new fancy tub that Gramma got him.

I think he likes it!

Getting a nice shampoo and a relaxing bath before he has to get trach ties changed and the new tube shoved in his nose.

2012 is exactly half over today. We hope the second half brings nothing but good progress! We’ll be getting going early in the morning to go to the hospital for the big test.

Week 36 – Day 5

There are far too many pictures to post AGAIN. Aunt Shannon and Gramma both have cameras busy all day long. This was a day of Trevor photos, Brendan did a lot of sleeping while he adjusted to his Friday drug changes.

Trevor had a copilot for flying today

New perspective on the turtle kicking game!

Not sure how he can stand the taste of Johnson’s Baby Wash, but he likes to chew on the wash rag

He likes to chew on the sink too

Later this evening, we left Brendan in Daddy’s care and Gramma, Shannon and I took Trevor down the street for a dip in the pool. Gramma bought him a new swimsuit for the summer.

Trevor loves dogs, especially Maggie-Moo

The water was like a warm bath today

Aunt Shannon and Trevor noodling about

Big ducky

We swam a lot longer than planned. Trevor was a little prune! Thanks very much Bailey for use of your pool!

Even after a long swim and a big dinner, Trevor was FULL of energy. He has learned how to rock his exersaucer!

Brendan did have a period like yesterday where he was a major kickin’ chicken! He knows how to time his kicks to get his bouncer going big time too!
