Week 11 – Day 2

It was a day of cleaning and organizing in our house today. Babies make tons of laundry so that is going too. We tried to move some furniture around to optimize our living space. Since Brendan is pretty well tethered to one small area of the house, we have to make that work. Once we get more settled, I will take a picture of the new arrangement.

Pretty much there are just pictures today, no other news to share!

Brendan snuggling with his seahorse this morning

Stripped the bed and the baby in order to do wash. He seemed comfortable enough! He is starting to get some meat on his bones. (Sorry for the poop bag in the pic, it is what it is)

All fresh and clean, in a baby baggie!

Brendan and his long time pal

Trevor sleeping in this morning. (he is in between sizes, so his jammies are a little large!)

Trevor after his bath, with more snug fitting jammies

Trevor must believe in “If you lick it, it’s yours”. Then he thinks the seahorse has food, then he slaps it when he realizes he has been fooled!

Week 11 – Day 1

Tuesday starts a new week for the boys, they have been out in the world for 10 weeks now! They are 2wks 2days adjusted age.

Brendan had an appointment back at the children’s hospital today. It is an all day event to get everyone ready and go down there!

We had to adjust the straps to the next level on the car seat for Trevor. He does not disappear in to the car seat anymore.

Brendan is not going to be far behind.

Brendan’s echocardiogram looked very good. They look for a handful of things and he checked out on all of them.
– The hole opened by the septostomy is still nice and large and does not show signs of shrinking. This means there is no turbulence of flow between the two atriums.
– The valves are working properly, there is no backflow from the ventricle in to the atriums.
– The pressures around his band are still looking good and his oxygen saturations are staying where they want them.

He is gaining just what they would expect him to gain, and he is going to get an extra 1/2 an ounce of food every day now. Given the growth rate, it is likely that it will be sometime in March when he has his Glenn procedure. But as long as he is doing well, they will wait as long as possible for him to be as big as possible, so it could well be in to April. They definitely want to wait until after the Glenn to reverse the ostomy so we had better get used to that.

Here’s a few shots of my cute boys in their coordinating blue outfits.

They aren’t always angels. Sometimes they do harmonize their crying in to an entertaining chorus. Usually it is more like this:

Lots of appointments going forward, tomorrow is nothing though. We are all wiped out now today, but there will be bubble baths later. I hear the hot tub calling my name.

Week 10 – Day 7

Brendan’s home nurse visit today was great. He is up to 7lbs 14oz! I figured that the weight on Thursday may have been a bit off. Either way though it is a good gain for him!
He was extra cranky all last night, but he has had a good day with just a few meltdowns. He has developed a shaking technique that gets the mitts off. If he flails his hands hard enough, sometimes it works. But he has found that tucking one hand in to his armpit and then flailing works even better. He also rubs his hands together while flailing and they will come off that way too. Next thing we will have to tape them on. I let him have them off for a while and within 5 minutes, he had a firm grip on his cannula and was pulling as hard as he can.

We brought the second pack & play out to the living room so that the boys have a chance to get more restful naps when the other one is being cranky. Trevor sat over by the back doors and just stared at the new light source. He doesn’t seem to mind having the bed to himself to stretch out in.

Here’s a couple of pictures from today:

The coolest thing is that the boys are starting to become more aware of each other. If you turn the volume up on this video, you can hear Trevor talk/growling and hiccups.
