Week 12 – Day 3

No appointments today! We started off the morning on such a happy note, looking over at Brendan and seeing that he had managed to pull his NG tube out. Bill and I had just been discussing the fact that his tube was starting to get a film building up and it would need to be replaced soon, even though we hate to put Brendan through that process. He must have heard us and decided to make it easy.

We had just gone through the process of re-taping everything, and we had to do it again today. Poor little Brendan cheeks.

We had a few social visits but otherwise, it was just a day of spending time with the boys and going through the steps of the routine.

The boys are in tune with each other, waking up and crying at the same time pretty frequently now. I need four arms!

Week 12 – Day 2

It was another visit to the pediatricians office today for this month’s dose of the Synagis program to help protect the boys from RSV.
Trevor cried a lot harder than Brendan getting his shot, that just goes to show what a tough little guy Brendan has become. Trevor was 11lbs 6oz and Brendan was 8lbs 11oz on the doctor’s scale today, although some of Brendan’s wires may have been weighed in that.

Brendan got a complete overhaul today in the service station, aka our kitchen. A complete ostomy kit replacement, cleaning and re-taping of the cannula and ng tube, bubble bath, and adhesive removal efforts. He took it really well and especially enjoyed floating all around in the big side of the sink today.

They spend a lot of time on the exam table. Can you see where Trevor is hiding those three extra pounds?

They are much happier once we get them all dressed again.

This is Brendan’s first time wearing real little pants

This is before re-taping. He was pretty wiped out from the doctor’s visit already. He oxygenates very well when he is sound asleep and not using up any of it. Even though his numbers were nice and high, I looked in on him and noticed something distinctly wrong about his cannula.
I just left it alone. Give his little nostrils a break if he doesn’t need it. I just wish he didn’t need the O2 when he was awake.

He had a little nose bleed today from the dryness. We picked up a saline mist kit for him instead of trying to put saline drops in his nose. We used Trevor as a guinea pig and I even tried it on myself before forcing it on Brendan. It actually feels nice to mist your sinuses with saline so we will be using it on him a lot!
