Week 20 – Day 6 – The night before

Not many hours from now, Brendan will be taken to the OR. We won’t know for certain what procedures they are really going to do tomorrow until Brendan is on the operating table and the doctors have finished their final conference. They told me they could change their mind anytime, but to find out today that there is still not total agreement among the entire team was startling. The surgeon promised me among the options, whichever they choose, there is not a bad decision for Brendan. He was confident that he will eventually do well. But the road between here and there could be smooth or bumpy and the doctors have to pick the path.

I am still in the hospital as I write this, Brendan is sleeping soundly. I will be going home for a few hours to sleep and then will be back to hold him a while again before he heads out of the room.

Earlier today, we took come cute pictures!! I am glad I am bringing the good camera again instead of just my phone.

When Trevor saw the pediatrician, we chatted about starting to add solid foods soon. We decided that Trevor might want to try out his cool high chair because it leans back for little babies and sits up straight for big boys. He didn’t think that trying out his high chair was such a good idea right away.

“My spoon is too big!”

“I just was sitting in this high chair…and it was thiiiis big!”

Taking pictures every day is fun because I can watch his hair grow in!

The fun pictures go a long way to alleviate the tension we all are feeling going in to tomorrow.
Surgery could potentially go well past noon, I will update the blog from my phone with a very brief note about how things went as soon as we get some news!
