Week 20 – Day 4

One more day of coasting.. tick tock.. surgery day is coming soon. I made an upgrade to the blog today, adding a page that has all of the old photos from day 1 forward in weekly galleries. It does not have the best navigation, but now you can look at all the old pictures without having to go post by post. It is amazing to see what we were going through just a few weeks ago, it feels like forever ago.

Brendan was hanging out today is his special recliner chair, it is just missing a cup holder

I held Brendan all day, he needs as much tummy time as he can get. After Monday, he will have to wait 6 weeks before he can lie on his chest again.

He did have several short bursts of awake time where he talked to me with little coos. Not too many smiles from him today.

Brendan and I both had a nap for a while.

When I left, he was back in his recliner for more nap time.

Trevor was mostly back to himself. He was spending some tummy time today too, but he does a lot more playing.

We shouldn’t let him play with mirrors, it looks like mirror baby may have gotten loose

Big time pushups today!

I love this face!

Trevor is a real comedian!

He likes to play pattycakes.

Week 20 – Day 3

Trevor had his 4 month checkup at the pediatrician today. He was in such a cute playful mood this morning, even while laying on the table at the doctor’s office. That is, he was in a cute mood until they gave him four shots in his chubby little thighs.

The great news is that Trevor is growing so strong and healthy. On the full term single baby growth charts, he is now falling right around the 50th percentile. That is awesome!! So, his weight today was 15lbs 8oz (50th%), his head was 16.8in around (45th%) and his height was 25.8in (65th%!)

So all day long, Trevor has been very sore and unhappy, he needed lots of rocking. He didn’t even feel much like eating, which is very unlike Trevor! He had a hard time taking naps today too, and was fighting off sleep tonight. Good thing Gramma was here to comfort him all day!

Brendan is still just coasting. So far everything is still on for Monday. Bill and I are supposed to have a conference with the surgeon sometime this weekend to prep us. I definitely get more nervous as the day approaches.

He was trying out his reflux-sling in the hospital bed today. The mattress is too floppy and doesn’t quite work well for this, but it worked enough. It kept him sitting up the way he likes in a safe manner.

Week 20 – Day 2

Another late night blog update, it was a busy day.

Brendan got some more tummy time while he was too sedated to work on his cannula

We also spent time getting him moved and settled in his swing, all the wires untangled and ready… then we realized that the batteries were dead. I think I made this face too!

Overall, Brendan had a good day. He was weaned down to 90% oxygen – any reduction is a good sign. So far he is still on the schedule for the OR for Monday morning.

Gramma is determined to get giggles from Trevor. He really likes “You can fly! You can fly! You can fly!!!!”

I expected that the next pictures would be a fun comparison, but I found it to be rather startling!!

Remember this picture from November 5th, 2011? I had a box of size 3 Huggies diapers and brought one in so that my sister could see a size comparison. Her son Caleb had just put on size 3’s. Tiny Trevor disappeared under the diaper.

But now, I opened that same box of size 3 Huggies in order to use them! Trevor has gotten BIGGER!

It is a bit of a crude photoshop cut & paste, but here are both pictures put together to scale, aligning the diaper size exactly. I am amazed and I watched the growth happen. Trevor has his 4 month checkup in the morning, so we will get a weight/length measurement! He is easily three times the mass now as then.
