Week 35 – Day 3 – Brendan has a surprise!

Guess who is still here? It’s Gramma! She should have been on a plane last night, but Trevor whispered in her ear every night while she was rocking him and convinced her to extend her stay until July 1st.

Trevor is going to help with the blog. He had to get the camera ready for the big news.

Brendan has a TOOTH! His first tooth officially made it through the gums and is just a tiny sharp little bit of a tooth. He really enjoyed Gramma clicking on it with her finger. He was proud, I like how he kept looking at the camera! Big brother gets the first tooth, although Trevor is not far behind.

Trevor was overburdened with crabbiness today

Brendan had a great day of playing and sprinted off of the vent for an hour and fifty minutes.

He didn’t let the crabby get him

He had a full service wash today. Bubble bath, ostomy bag, all fresh face tape, trach tube change. He handled it like a superstar and was exhausted.

Because we took out a trach tube, I took some pictures so that you can see what it really looks like. I have had lots of questions about it. This blog is meant to help people understand what Brendan is dealing with so I am more than happy to explain things or answer questions, especially from the kids! No matter how silly it may seem. Bill and I (and Gramma too!) have been immersed in this and it is hard to remember when it wasn’t normal to have a cart full of medical supplies in the living room.

It is just a peg in a hole and the ties keep it in place. This tube part gets changed once a week for a fresh one.

This is the foamy strap that goes around his neck and attaches through those little holes with skinny pieces of velcro. These are disposable and get thrown away every day.

Week 35 – Day 2

Lots of brothers together time today. Trevor is still jealous and yells a lot. Not cries.. yells a very angry loud yell when he feels like he is not getting enough attention or if he gets bored!

Brendan had a long play time on the floor. There was no good picture of them sitting up together, lots of blurry ones because they were moving so much!

They had some more low key tummy time.

Trevor sees the suction tubes by Brendan’s face all the time and wanted in on the “fun”. Brendan actually needed suctioning while they were lying next to each other. The loud noise scared Trevor and he started to cry really hard. The sound of Trevor crying upset Brendan and he started to cry really hard. It was cute and sad at the same time to see them having a cry together.

While Trevor took a nap, Brendan got to visit outer space

Then they spent time in Brendan’s crib together watching the light up mobile

And then the slapping started

Trevor needed a reminder about who is the big brother

(And Happy Birthday to Aunt Shannon, we can’t wait to see you again!)

Week 35 – Day 1

Trevor sat in his high chair this morning looking less than hungry.

It was a battle within, he couldn’t decide whether or to be happy or sad. He either is carrying his crabby mirror baby around inside, or he is just a great actor!

He played with the Calamari Twins

Until Gramma started putting things on his head

Crabby baby had to come out again!

Trevor had a pretty rough day. We talked to his doctor about changing his diet up again to see if we can’t keep that kid feeling comfortable. It will take a few days to sort out, but hopefully the smiling little angel Trevor will win over crabby baby.

Brendan had a fantastic day. It had a really rough start early on and a mini melt down around dinner time but all afternoon he was just the happiest, most spastic kicking silly baby ever. He ran at least one marathon with his little legs moving.
He got to play with the Twin Captains too.

Both of his bottom teeth are just a couple thin layers of skin away from being officially in. He bites his fingers a lot!

Both boys are in bed now, we hope that Trevor makes it past 5am tomorrow morning and that Brendan is more kind to his poor nurse and gives her a break too!
