Week 32 – Day 3

Lots of pictures to share today! So much happens in a day, and several people are taking photos so I have a hard time picking just a few to put in the blog.
Brendan had a really great day today. He slept so much and just relaxed. When he was awake, he was feeling really silly and smiley. He didn’t need anywhere near as much suctioning, he did not have any throw-ups, he kept all of his meds down.
Trevor made up for Brendan’s great day by having a rough day. He was so upset about something all morning, we are not sure exactly what. The leading guess is that it is his teeth coming in, but it isn’t clear. He did not want to eat this morning, he did not want to nap at all. He cried and yelled and was generally mad. He had moments of great cuteness and happy time throughout the day too, it was very inconsistant! Chewing on ice got him through his toughest time, and walking on the patio in his stroller back and forth too.

Somehow, an oatmeal explosion went off this morning

All clean and better now!

Brendan is learning to enjoy his bubble bath, he is so clean and soft now!

Trevor says, “Move the duck, I want to know what that other baby is doing in my sink with my tub turtles!”

After his bath, Brendan got his tape mustache removed so I could clean up his face

“Gee, what is this? No tape!”

“Rats! Foiled again!”

We received Brendan’s medical supplies today – (one month supply)

Bouncing brothers time!

Hopefully Brendan will just continue to improve. We did not get a chance to do a sprint today, we will definitely work that in tomorrow. We are weaning a tiny bit off of his sedation so he might have some more awake time. We hope to pinpoint Trevor’s problem so we can help him feel better. We are slowly getting organized and starting to work out our systems and routines.

One more day of no hospital! Woooo!

Week 32 – Day 2

It was a big day for the whole family in a totally different way. We all got to stay home!

Trevor got more tummy time with his new spinning top

Brendan’s day was filled with good things he hasn’t been able to do for a long time. He got rocked and cuddled by Gramma.

By the time we got him all moved to the kitchen for his bubble bath, he decided he was ready for another nap!

He did get scrubbed from tip to toe today! Boy did he ever need it!! He seemed to enjoy soaking in the warm water.

He couldn’t float in water too deep, we were afraid to get water near his trach.

He thought bath time was pretty cool, hopefully he will enjoy it as part of his daily routine as much as Trevor does!

Trevor is climbing out of the chaos and escaping

Nobody is looking, time to make the move!

Aunt Letty sent cute snuggly hug bears for the boys. Thanks for the packages! Trevor played with them while Brendan took a nap

Brendan has spent all evening asleep in his swing. He is really clean and comfy and resting well.

Trevor ended up having a second bath tonight. It was part of his plan.

It must have been thirst, he really likes to lick the shower!

Week 32 – Day 1 – Homecoming Day

What a huge day!! Brendan was so happy to see us this morning. He can’t talk but he was telling me that he was eager to get out of that hospital!

The most expensive delivery drivers around loading him up, I hope they weren’t expecting a tip! 🙂

Let’s get this thing rolling already!

Everyone was worried about how he would handle the transport. He slept soundly the whole way home! You might even say he slept like a baby.

Trevor was all dressed up and waiting at home with Gramma.

What is this nice soft clean crib, fresh sheets and my favorite monkeys?

And getting to sit in the comfy rocking chair with Mommy too!

Trevor was not used to not being the center of attention. Gramma had to take him for some laps in the stroller while he waited for Brendan to get settled in!

Trevor finally got to come say hello. Brendan really likes his brother.

Trevor likes his brother too

Before getting ready for bed, the boys got to spend more time together. Whose feet are these? They also video chatted with their aunts for a little while.

What a long day! He is so ready to sleep!

He had about 2hrs of good rest and then his new night nurse arrived. She had tons of questions and worked to get oriented to our home. Things were going well until 9PM medication time. The sheer volume of medication liquid pushed in to his tube caused his ostomy to dump fluid and for some reason, the whole new ostomy base started leaking everywhere. The base they gave me to put on today must have been dried out so it didn’t stick well and the thin stool just got under it. The three of us (me, Bill, and nurse) transported Brendan to the kitchen counter and had to do a full service fix up!
We did a lot of trach cleaning and new ties because his poor skin is broken down on his neck. We did a new ostomy base and bag and cleanup. We put a fresh stripe of tape mustache because it was covered in slime. He was the BEST baby ever, he handled it all so well. We got him all tucked back in to bed and he fell asleep instantly.
With everything happening today, all the excitement, the handling, the people, the noise, the new stuff, and all the hubbub, he has hardly cried a tear.

Just for nostalgia, I decided to post an old picture from the day that Brendan came home the first time (December 19th). I can’t believe how they both got lost in those car seats! Brendan has been in the hospital four solid months now, we are SO SO SO glad to have him home again!!
