Year 2 – Week 11 – Day 2

Looking back to pictures I took this morning makes this day feel very long. That seemed like yesterday. It wasn’t bad, the boys were very good. It just was a lot of work and many comings and goings like speech therapy, oxygen refill, a couple of packages, and lots of phone calls.

If there is nobody to stay with Brendan, Trevor can’t have his morning bath in the big tub. But I think that they are getting too big for this little tub!

Brendan had a very active night. His nurse said that he did not sleep much at all and that he just wanted to play and make noise. Surprisingly enough, he was awake all morning and just wanted to play!

He usually takes a nap at 10am, even if it is just 30-45 min. But he was awake and playing and just started to show signs of sleepiness at 10:30am. But he had speech therapy at 11 so I couldn’t let him fall asleep or we would have to wake him up and he would be really crabby. So I made him stay up!
He actually did a great job with the therapist. He was having fun with the toys she brought and was being happy and cooperative. But half way through his session, he finally hit his wall!
He tried to keep his heavy eyelids open to play. He just couldn’t hold up that big, heavy head!

I was worried that the O2 refill would come right after I got both boys asleep and then all the banging and clanging would end nap time really early. But he showed up during speech! Trevor was having lunch so he was out of the way. And with all that done, they both got to take nice naps! Some days it just works out, I wish they were all like that!!

Trevor woke up silly. He says, “Wanna dance?”

I love my strange, strange little Trevor.

The boys played with blocks all afternoon. They are learning their stacking skills, but really they just want me to stack and they both love to crash and sweep.

They got another cool christmas present toy in the mail. It has been the hot item around here today. Brendan finally got it away from Trevor.

“You’re doing it wrong! You are supposed to push these dudes in”

“I know how to play this, Trevor!!”

“What disaster trail?”

We hope there is a good weekend ahead!

Year 2 – Week 11 – Day 1

So today was nowhere near as nice as yesterday! The boys both decided that they did me enough favors and that today they would be cranky. I took Trevor grocery shopping this morning to try to wear him out for another nice long nap, but that didn’t work. He started to pitch a fit and we had to leave before I was really done shopping.
He ate a good lunch and took a two hour nap, so it wasn’t too bad. He had a good afternoon but then got ridiculously bratty tonight and demanded to eat really early. He gobbled down a HUGE dinner. He was up for a while then and went to bed pretty easily.

Brendan had a rough morning and cried and refused to do anything during his PT today. He then had a nice and relatively quiet day where he did all the things he was supposed to show his therapist. Like the fact that he scooted himself back off of his floor pad on to the wood.

My good camera had a dead battery so I had to put it on the charger and use a cheap little camera. It is a great tiny camera except it doesn’t do well in low light, like in my living room in the evening. So it is a big old picture fail today.

Trevor says, “New camera? What can I push!?”

Low light + crappy camera = blurry action shots! Trevor jumps on the couch like a spazz.

Brendan was just minding his own business and sorting shapes.

Really, I don’t even know!

Good camera tomorrow!

Year 2 – Week 10 – Day 7

Today was very nice! Brendan is having withdrawal issues but is coping with them. His nurse was here today instead of Monday because of the holiday so he got lots of one-on-one Trevorless play time and attention. Trevor had a great day with a fun outing. Little Kieran is super-duper and Gramma had a safe flight and immediately began the smothering process.

Once she got the cutie away from his daddy, that is.

Since Trevor liked the park with the ducks so much, I took him this morning to an ultimate duck/bird park!

He loves the big ducks and the tiny cute little birds. There were too many pigeons though.

(this video might take a while to load, I had some tech issues and had to upload it full sized)
The ducks at this park are very brave. We threw them a couple of cheerios and then they were Trevor’s best buddies.

This park has a lot of really cool things that the boys just are not ready for, like a huge playland, a water spraying zone, and this cool tree to climb on.

We walked a loop around the mini-lake

And we made it back to the front just in time for the train to be running!

Choochoo! I should have thought to take cousin Caleb here while he was visiting.

We got home from the big outing, Trevor ate lunch and then went down for a 3.5hr nap! He was up for a while at 2:30 this morning, so he was pretty tired already. The fresh air must have done him in! He got up in a good mood and played with his bro for a while.

Brendan wants what Trevor has!

Brendan was in a good mood this afternoon too!

Trevor says, “You best not make a move for my milk!”

Brendan’s coordination and fine motor skills are improving quite a bit. He is using the shape sorter, stacking blocks, and figuring out how to pop up bugs.

I have to take Trevor out again tomorrow and do something to expend all his energy. That long nap was perfect for me to get lots of chores done!
