Year 2 – Week 11 – Day 5

It was a normal Monday at first. Brendan had a nurse so I wanted to get a lot done today. I took Trevor back to the big duck park to try to wear him out so that I could get a good nap out of him!
He really likes the ducks!

And he loves these weird little birds, I don’t know what they are.

His friend the mallard scared all of the pigeons away.

This park has a lot to offer. This miniature city of play is fairly new. It will be a lot of fun when the boys get bigger.

Once we were done giving cheerios to the ducks, we went to Target to try to find warm hoodies for both boys. We will take Brendan out to see the ducks soon too! We just needed something for them both to wear. I couldn’t find mittens at all, I will just have to make some for them!
Every time I load Trevor in his carseat, he gets very excited about the baby in the mirror.

The new van saw its first expl-“o”-sion today. I guess that is all part of breaking it in. It wasn’t Trevor’s fault. I spilled them because I didn’t ziplock the bag right. The birds in the Target parking lot loved it. By the time we were done shopping, the o’s were all gone.

We found the cutest hoodies!

The mask part is totally see-through and breathable. It also folds in to the hood perfectly if you don’t want to use it. Trevor thought it was funny!

Brendan did a lot of work on his PT again today with Jen. He is still coping very well with his withdrawal and still plays and smiles. He just has difficulty sleeping and needs to be held a lot. He takes lots of breaks from play.

Trevor did go down for a nice nap right after lunch but thanks to mister rev-the-engine-up-extra-loud UPS truck driver, it was over too early and Trevor woke up cranky! We were only able to calm him with some Backyardigans.

He didn’t pull himself up, no way! But look who is STANNNNNDINNNNG! (he loves when you say that, with a “yay! Brendan!”) His legs are getting much stronger to bear all that weight. He’s getting so big!

He does really well with the standing in the corner, but he gets scared when he doesn’t know how to get down! Daddy was there for the rescue.

Hopefully this week he will actually show his physical therapist all these new tricks!

Year 2 – Week 11 – Day 4

Sundays should be about relaxing but they tend to be all about errands. We put Brendan to work first thing, he is showing off his tummy time.

He is proud of himself!

Trevor says, “Now this is proper tummy time. Get with the program, Brendan!”

Trevor and I went grocery shopping today. He had on cute little jeans to go out in public. But it never lasts once he gets home. Jeans don’t provide proper couch climbing flexibility.

After his bath, Brendan got dressed in the cute monster jammies. So Trevor had to put on cute monster pants too. (It isn’t Daddy’s fault he doesn’t match!)

Brendan says, “I’ll just take that hammer, Trevor, thanks…”

We worked Brendan today. He is SO close to being able to sit himself up from on the ground. He tried and tried. Then he just got worn out!

Trevor is enjoying his after-dinner ice cube and tylenol. He was super good today even though his teeth were obviously bothering him.

Grandpa Jack is not well, he has come down with some kind of respiratory infection or cold. We are hoping that he can rest and feel better tomorrow.

Year 2 – Week 11 – Day 3

There was not much going on today, just routine stuff. Bathing, eating, playing, cleaning, etc, etc, chores, chores, chores. But I took a ton of photos and had to pick out the cream of the crop.

Trevor was testing out a new Christmas present bath toy this morning.

The verdict is: They don’t stick across grout lines, but the small ones stay on the bumpy tiles. They fall pretty easily. Trevor had a blast but he won’t keep them out of his mouth.

They don’t hold up to biting, so we will have to put them away for a little while until Trevor learns not to teethe on everything.

Good Parenting Tip: Don’t put a shelf above the changing table. There is a risk of items falling and it is something for baby to grab and pull.

Good Parenting Tip: Consistency is crucial. Unacceptable behavior should be prevented or stopped, even if it means missing out on a priceless photo.

He is a little monkey that doesn’t like to get dressed after a bath!!

Speaking of monkeys, Brendan spent time in the jungle this morning.

Trevor will pass a lot of time playing independently in his toy box.

Monkey see, Monkey do!!

Trevor was pretty happy with his brother coming to play

They had a blast!

Then I told them it was time to get out and go to bed!

Their interactions just get cuter and cuter. They surprise me and make me laugh every day with the things they do!
