Year 2 – Week 12 – Day 7

This is going to be a whirlwind weekend with family in town. It is a shame when it takes a tragedy to bring everyone together, but we will enjoy the time we have with the ones we love.
Services for Grandpa Jack will be this Sunday. If you need more details, please email, text or call.

Bill had quite a bit to do today, so the boys and I spent the day together. We are grateful for Brendan’s nurse MaryAlyn who worked a 12hr shift starting early so that we could have an evening to get some things done. We are also glad nurse Jen was here all day so that Bill could be gone and I wasn’t overwhelmed with the little monkeys. Thanks Christine for giving up your evening to help get through the end of the schedule and get the boys to bed.

Nurse Jen puts Brendan to work whenever he is awake. He does all of his exercises.

She makes it fun for him though!

Brendan amazed all of us with his standing today. He was so proud of himself! His legs get wobbly really fast, but he is getting stronger!

Trevor went through a couple of outfits and I finally gave up and left his pants off. He was totally happy with that idea.

Has anyone seen Trevor?

Here’s a little compilation of some of the fun and naughtiness today. And then there is Trevor’s “walking”. He actually walks amazingly well when the camera isn’t on and nobody is coaxing him.

Year 2 – Week 12 – Day 6 – Goodbye, Grandpa Jack

I feel an obligation to post a few pictures of the boys, so here they are. They do not have any idea that anything is different. Trevor just is teaching Brendan how to eat shapes from the shape sorter.

Mmmmm shapes

The boys had a good day, but the rest of us were deeply saddened to learn that Grandpa Jack passed away just before 8am this morning. He shocked everyone last spring when he got kicked out of the hospice home for being too healthy. The doctors had given him just a few days to live! He just kept right on going and amazing everyone with his will to live.
He was a generous, patient, and loving father and grandfather. He has had and will continue to have a huge impact on our lives and the lives of our boys. He will be greatly missed!

I went through a few archives I could find tonight and pulled out a small collection of photos to honor his memory.

Year 2 – Week 12 – Day 5

Our schedule is changing up a bit. Our day nurse is moving to Tues-Wed instead of Mon-Tues in order to accomodate Bill’s new work from home schedule. So Bill was home working today and it was just me and the boys passing a pretty plain Monday.

Trevor worked on his hammering skills.

It looks like they are playing a complicated game of strategy and concentration!

Brendan’s hammer time

Brendan has Trevor’s favorite truck!

Brendan believes that if you eat your laptop, the knowledge of the whole internet will be absorbed in to your brain. Nom nom nom.

Trevor needs to do a little drilling on his tooth.

Brendan turns a wrench on the Chomp n Clack.

“I am going to turbo charge this clacker so Trevor can go really fast!!”

This video is for Gramma because she loves Brendan’s disapproval face. Brendan DOES NOT LIKE tissue paper and this is the proof. One of his top favorite things is the peek-a-boo forest book though. That makes it better.

The boys are a real joy even when they are super naughty and we had a good day. But there is a dark cloud over the day because Grandpa Jack is very sick today. Aunt Heather’s plane just landed and she and Bill will be going over there shortly, Aunt Jennifer is already there. We hope that he is able to be comfortable and know that his family is around him.
