Year 2 – Week 12 – Day 4

This was a very big milestone day! Brendan got to go to the park! It was unusually cold here so we bundled the boys up in layers and headed out to see if Brendan likes the ducks as much as Trevor does.

Brendan really liked hiding behind the monster mask on his new hoodie!

He can see through it just fine, he is just silly!

Trevor knew where we were the moment we hit the parking lot!

But it turns out, Brendan wants no part of the ducks. They were too much.

He says, “get me out of here!”

Trevor says, “I’ll just eat the extra peas that we brought for the ducks!” (I read that peas were good for the ducks. They liked them but the peas sink. It was actually very entertaining watching the ducks dive for sinking peas!)

Trevor says, “I know what Brendan will like!”

He was interested!

Trevor likes to swing really big and fast!

Brendan was limited by the length of his oxygen line. I think it is cute how Trevor scoots to the front of the seat and dangles straight while Brendan is fully seated in the bucket.

“Is this how I am supposed to do it?”

“Yep, hang straight and swing big!”

“And stick your hand out here?”

Brendan is silly!

Brendan likes pushes from Daddy

We had lots of people, especially kids, say, “oh gosh look at those cute TWINS!!”

Trevor says, “Look! No hands!”

“Wheeeee!”

All packed up and time to walk back to the car. Brendan waves bye-bye!

One more stop at the water to feed the birds. Brendan cried so we didn’t stay long!

As soon as we were in the warm car, Brendan was out cold! He has slept soundly all evening so far. He was worn out! I think he had a great time!

It was so so so good to get out as a whole family and do something fun!

Year 2 – Week 12 – Day 3

I am so tired tonight that I started to do this post and I had to step away from the computer because my eyelids were so heavy, I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I took a 15min nap and a hot shower and I am back to try to get this post done before our nurse shows up for the night!

We had some friends come over and help us to completely empty our master bedroom this morning because we were expecting a furniture delivery. Thanks Jonah, Christine and Johnathon for all of your help today!

Brendan and Trevor came in to the bedroom to play for a while so that we would not miss the excitement of setting everything up. Goodbye 30yr old yucky particle board furniture!

We got a whole new bed, mattress, sheets and pillows. I am so eager to go to bed tonight!

Trevor crawls the perimeter to check everything out and reports back to Brendan

I have never seen a king sized mattress come as a sausage roll before!

Brendan did not like the giant plastic wrap on the mattress!

The mattress expanded really fast once the bag was removed. It is a 13″ memory foam mattress and it feels like a dreamy marshmallow fluff bed. We only got the storage bed and two chests, we are keeping our existing armoire for now. The rest of the room is taken up by dog beds.
We have to move the sconces and put back up pictures on the wall now that everything is in place.

Once that was all done, Brendan finally got his bath and dressed up to match Trevor for the afternoon of playing with trucks.

If you tell Brendan to push the button on the truck, he does.

They just look so twinny today!

“What do you mean where do I think I am going?” says monkey Trevor that woke up at 5am and has been go go go go go go go ever since with only an hour of nap.

We had our helper-friends back tonight for pizza and play time. Trevor ended up staying up an hour past his normal bedtime and was so wound up and crazy it took him a long time to settle and go to sleep. If he is up at 5am again tomorrow, I am going to be so tired!

Year 2 – Week 12 – Day 2

Wow was it a long day. Tempers, tears and tantrums!! To be fair, both boys have bruises and bumps on their legs from shots. Brendan has had an elevated heart rate and has been a bit flushed and sweaty. They both just were so sensitive to every little thing!

Brendan actually had speech therapy today and did phenomenally well which is a huge surprise given the mood he was in the rest of the day. He has PT tomorrow morning because Thursday got cancelled.

I had big plans for pictures today but it was an epic, epic fail!
The goal was to put the boys in cute onesies and then have them do some fingerpainting so that they got all covered in colors to make it even cuter.

First, they were just not interested in getting their pictures taken in onesies.

(this about sums up the day!)

Then, I hung up a sheet in the bathtub to cover the wall thinking that it would be my backdrop. They could go crazy with paint and the pictures would be cute and nobody would know it was in the tub, cleanup would be easy.
I never expected what happened. Trevor was TERRIFIED of the sheet in the tub. He trembled and clung to me and screamed if I went near it.
I tried to distract him with fingerpainting and he just wasn’t buying it. He was watching that sheet and trying to get out of the bathroom. I just didn’t get it.
So I took it down and let Trevor finish fingerpainting. He loved it! At that point, I didn’t even bother bringing in Brendan. He was still upset about getting dressed.

Trevor finished his bathtub masterpiece.

It would have been so cute to get the portrait with all the colors. (washable paint came right out of the onesie)

“Nice try, Mom. Nice, try.”

I will have to try again when they are feeling better.

The day was just mean to me. I got both boys down for a nap and was able to take a nice long hot shower. (Never take for granted a nice shower!). I was all clean and dressed and decided that I was actually going to take a nap.
I got a blanket, lay on the couch and said to Bill, “if you hear the boys and I don’t get up, holler at me”. I put my head down. At that point a shrill squeal/screech cut through the calm like something had dropped from the sky and bit Trevor on the nose.
It was like the couch/head contact was the Trevor activation button. 45 minute nap!!!

Tomorrow will be super busy! No photo shenanigans planned.
