Year 2 – Week 16 – Day 1

It was another “normal” day for our household. Physical therapist this morning, Bill working and going to appointments, boys going nuts, cleaning, cooking, picking up. I am really looking forward to a long shower when I am done with this blog! It was beautifully sunny and 70 degrees here today, I can hardly imagine the snow that is falling elsewhere!!

Trevor was trying to tell me something important.

He was trying to say that it is his Great Aunt Letty’s birthday! Giant hugs and slobbery kisses are on their way to the east coast!

Trevor pulled up a ‘chair’ and watched Brendan do PT. (Brendan did an AWESOME job, he worked very hard and was smiley and cooperative the whole time!)

Brendan sat with Trevor at lunch. He had already had his bath and I didn’t want him getting all messy with purees, so I gave him a bunch of goldfish crackers to play with. He was rattling them all around his tray and picking them up and tossing them. And then he put one in his mouth!

He wasn’t really thrilled with the result. He actually bit down and crunched the cracker in to bits!

He didn’t like the taste either!

I had to let him suction out his own mouth to get all the cracker.

Trevor just watches the free show

He gets a front row seat

The boys both like playing with blocks. Trevor has finally taken interest in stacking them himself.

He is an expert stacker, but Brendan is still interested in the crashing part!

Stacking…

Trevor does still love the crashing part!

Everyone may remember Trevor going to the post office last Tuesday to send mail. We sent a huge package to Kieran as cheap as it would go and it got there Monday. We sent a package to Gramma with priority 2-3day mail. The post office cashier accidentally typed a 9 in the zip code instead of a 6 and printed the label. I noticed that the receipt said “Los Angeles” and asked about it. He said, “oops, I will reprint the label right”
Well, he didn’t and the package ended up in the main postal hub in LA instead of Illinois. It waited there until Monday and finally left for IL on Tuesday and processed through the hub Wednesday morning. I thought for sure Gramma would have her package yesterday or today. When I didn’t hear about it, I checked on it again. Somehow, it WENT BACK TO LA again!!! Last night, the package got back to California and left again. It is going to be a well travelled package, maybe she will get it by Christmas!
Gotta LOVE the post office! Bill called on it and even the postal worker on the phone couldn’t figure it out!

Year 2 – Week 15 – Day 7

First, we have a special message for someone’s birthday today!

Then, we just have some more cute pictures!

Every lunch is better with a balloon to keep you company.

Brendan had a rough morning, but then after his nap he woke up super silly. He would rather chew on shapes than do exercises though.

He still did some good tummy time

Brendan has been going to the toy area more, the two boys played together for quite a while.

This picture makes me want to scoop up Trevor and give him a huge hug

Chomp face!

Look! Dump trucks!

Hopefully Brendan has a good morning tomorrow for PT!

Year 2 – Week 15 – Day 6

Wowzer! It was an exhausting day. My feet hurt and I am so ready for bed!
Trevor woke up at 4:30am. I got him to relax and go back to bed after about 20 minutes but then I could not go back to sleep.

Brendan had a cardiology appointment first thing this morning. So I got Trevor through breakfast and had just enough time to get him dressed. Brendan’s nurse and I got the car packed and the equipment all together. Brendan handled the car trip much better than I expected. He cried a bit getting in to the stroller at the doctor’s. I was so worried after the meltdowns while trying to take walks that this outing would be really bad.
He saved the EPIC meltdown for when they were trying to do his EKG. He does not like to be held down so he went in to a total rage. Who would want all those stickers and wires on them?
The test results were useless with that much fighting so they stepped out to let him calm down. Of course, he wore himself out so he fell asleep. Then they were able to do a perfect EKG.
He woke up for his echocardiogram and although he was not thrilled about it, he did sit still and let them get really good pictures.
The doctor was so very happy with Brendan. He said Brendan looked amazing, his weight was 25lbs and wonderful. His heart is strong and the doctor “couldn’t be happier” with the function. No valve leak at all, no coarctation of vessels, no weak squeeze, good pulmonary arteries, good Glenn flow. A+++!!
So we are on “coast and grow” mode to try to make the strongest lungs possible for when he has his next open heart procedure.

Trevor was such a good boy at the doctor’s office. He stayed in the stroller in the beginning and then I had to hold him the rest of the time. He squirmed and wanted to get down a lot, so my arms and back are exhausted. But he didn’t cry.
We were there so long, we got home late for lunch so Trevor got cranky. Both boys were so tired!

Brendan wasn’t real keen on sweet potatoes, but to be fair, he didn’t have an easy morning so we will have to try them again.

“Psst, Trevor. Gramma tried to tell me these were good.”

Trevor liked them and thought they would be good on his face too!

The boys got in a short nap and then Brendan had Occupational Therapy. He did a very good job with his therapist today. He showed her all of his good tricks. Trevor even got a deep pressure massage so that she could train me how to do it with Brendan. He liked it!

Trevor had to rearrange the diapers for Brendan

Trevor practiced a LOT of walking up and down the hallway and outside on the front patio. (another reason my back is sore!) But he still likes to walk around on his knees!

Tomorrow is our recovery day, no appointments, no therapies. Just laundry!
