Brendan did a great job at the doctor’s office today. He played “shake the oxygen tube” while we waited.

His pulmonologist thought he looked great and is happy with his recovery. We have to keep working on Brendan now to wear his trach cap. He has to wear the cap all day long (12hrs) before he can have his next sleep study. Because of his illnesses, we are now looking at an earliest decannulation in the spring. We knew the original goal was very aggressive, but we were hopeful. The time will pass quickly.
When we got home, Trevor was pretty anxious. (He did have a busy morning staying home with Bill!) He absolutely hates to hear Brendan crying when he can actually make noise. (To be fair, it is a very loud harsh cry) If Brendan cries, Trevor runs, throws himself down, hits his head on things and cries.
I decided to take Trevor to lunch to help him get away while Brendan got used to wearing his PMV for the day.
We like this burger joint because it is loud and family friendly.

He pushed jelly packets around like a train while we waited. (This was his own doing, I didn’t show him!)

Tater tots, fries, chunks of mushroom-swiss burger. How can you go wrong?

For a little extra, you can upgrade the kids meal drink to a freshly made real milk shake. I got Trevor a strawberry one.

I was very impressed with his behavior in the restaurant. He faced out a window that looked out onto a busy street so he pointed out big trucks going by. He loved people watching. He ate well, had his shake and stayed fairly clean too. It was nice to take him for a lunch.
Brendan went down for his nap just before noon and stood up in his crib 25 minutes later with a smile. So then at 5:30p, we were struggling to keep him awake. I got him through the tub and trach care and managed to keep him up until just after 7:00p. He is usually a 9:15p kind of baby. We will see what this means for the night, it is Bill’s cot night.
While I did Brendan’s stuff a little out of order, it meant Daddy had to finish bathing Trevor. Then he got to do the “wrap-a-Trevor-up-in-a-towel” game and cuddle for a while.

We’ve been getting the house ready for company but there is a lot to do tomorrow. I hope the boys grant us a good night of sleep!
