Year 3 – Week 2 – Day 6

The only thing I really wanted to get done today was a little sewing project. But to do that, I had to clear the kitchen table and get out the machines. To clear the table, I had to find places for things, which meant cleaning up those places of other things. The snowball effect kicked in, and next thing I know, I was sorting and cleaning under my bathroom sink. By the end of the morning, I was doing tons of laundry and purging my closet of all the build up of old clothes I have been meaning to get donated.

I was behind on laundry, plus there was a lot of new boys’ clothes. Add cleaning the closet and it ended up being a laundry explosion.

I know better than to just dump Trevor’s hamper in the wash and not look. I was in a hurry today, I never thought this would get by me. I can’t believe I didn’t hear it in the machine, I didn’t know it was in there until the wash was done. It was a good book too. Sorry, Gramma.

Trevor isn’t in trouble. He is “helping” me in the closet. He was a real good boy all morning and played in my room while I worked.

Brendan likes to knock all the letters off the board, but then he puts them all back on. He wore his PMV the entire day again, and did a great job in therapy.

Then he sat on his pillow like a little prince and played iGuy

Trevor stole my pizza muffin at dinner time. He is hitting that phase where he wants what is on my plate. He surprised me by eating the olives and sausage and cheese off the top.

And then taunted me with YUM face

It’s bedtime, this is the face Brendan makes when we tell him it is time for bed. He doesn’t have plans to fall asleep anytime soon.

Year 3 – Week 2 – Day 5

Well the sweet, mellow little alien clones from yesterday moved on and returned my hyper, crazy, barfing, tackling, dramatic little boys that I know and love with all my heart. Even so, it was a good day.

I wanted to take Trevor away to wear him out and give Brendan a chance to play without fear of being mowed down. We initially were going to go to the zoo, but we ended up on a scouting mission. We checked out a train park about 25min from the house. It will be a cool place to take visitors. I wish we knew about it when Granddaddy was here!

There was a very nice shaded playground that was not too crowded

There was a train to ride

There was a carousel

They have a museum and a huge model layout and some old train cars that you can tour too, but we did not do that part. We had to get back home in time for lunch and garbage truck.

Trevor won the truck lottery today. The garbage and mailman arrived exactly together, only 30 seconds after the oxygen refill truck pulled away.

We have to catch the garbage pickup on the other side of the street too. He was willing to watch it from in his window in his bedroom, after getting ready for his nap.

“Look Gramma, I am spiderman again”

Brendan was cuter than ever today and had a pretty good day. He is really starting to develop lots of attitude and has perfected the wet noodle pickup-evasion technique. He decided that he wanted to walk around in my shoes today and nothing was going to stop him. He impressed his therapist with the skills he used to pull this and bear-walking off in big shoes. He had a good therapy session.

Year 3 – Week 2 – Day 4

Today was a total surprise to me. I was alone with the boys all day and they were awesome!
I don’t know if the Body Snatchers’ pods hatched and substituted them with sweet little duplicates, but it was a really good day.
First, there was not a single throw-up. Not one! I guess it is so commonplace every day that I forget to mention the struggle with the gagging, coughing up goo, and formula soaked pants.
Second, Brendan wore his PMV all day!! I mean ALL day. Trevor got irritated a few times when Brendan got too loud but Trevor tolerated it so well!
Third, there was no hitting and tackling!! I keep working with Trevor to sign “No” to Brendan when Brendan is doing something Trevor doesn’t like. He also takes him toys to trade when he wants what Brendan has. Trevor even gave things to Brendan without direction, it was adorable!

I sure wish we could build on this foundation and keep moving forward. I know the chaos will be back!
Trevor has turned some of his attack energy on the dog and wants to pull and bend poor Eins’s tail. I know Eins can escape at any time, he seems to like the game and ends up pulling Trevor over often.

Trevor recognizes some letters, especially “o” and points them out everywhere, “M” and “S” too!

Dumping the toy box usually helps prevent rapid tackle-attacks. Brendan played in the toybox for a while.

“I know one of these turns the TV on”

I gave Trevor another stack of “cans” to dump. His sound effects are adorable too.

Time to change things up

When Brendan tries to invade Trevor’s personal space…

…he has to learn how to improvise

That will help

What’s wrong with this picture?

If you said “That’s not where an HME is supposed to go”, you are right! You all got it, I am sure.

It was so adorable today watching Brendan laugh himself in to fits of silliness while playing “Endless Alphabet”. Hearing his laugh is amazing. I can only hope tomorrow goes just as well or better!
