Year 3 – Week 17 – Day 2

So our big evening was a success. We told the boys we were having a “slumber party”. We sort of went camping, in that we all slept in the trailer on the side of the house. It was an early trial run for what it would take for us to really do an overnight somewhere.
It was an important learning experience for us all.

This time, we waited until the boys were through their bath and in their jammies. Then we all went out there and had silly time until it was time to go to sleep. Next time, we will try to go out in the afternoon and see how it works to get them cleaned up and do Brendan’s trach care in the trailer.

They were so excited! All day, I told Trevor we were going to sleep in “Gramma’s house” and so after dinner, he kept asking to go out there. They were giddy to be out there at night.

Brendan and Bill slept in the back room where we could set up all the equipment. We tried out the little crib, but it worked better for him to just sleep in the bed with Bill.

Trevor and I slept in the front room. It was so quiet that every time the heater kicked on, Trevor would wake up and say, “Man cutting a tree?” or “Someone vacuuming?” or “Fan on?”. Next time I will set up his white noise machine to help him sleep through it! They both slept pretty well all things considered.

At dawn, they poured out of the trailer and went straight to mowing. We must have missed some long grass yesterday. 🙂

The grass was damp, so the bubbles from the mower lingered for quite a while

Trevor was totally worn out for nap time and fell asleep fast. Brendan must have had a great night of sleep because he napped for about 25 minutes!

Later in the afternoon, we decided to do a little spring cleaning. We hosed down the play mat, took down the baby gates (for good!), and cleaned the fort and slide. To stay warm, the boys had to wear their pirate towels. 🙂

I should never try to get the blog done early. I am editing a few hours after initially posting to add the silliness of post-bath antics tonight. We call this game Jump-jump-drop.
