Year 3 – Week 35 – Day 2

Trevor had a special Daddy outing day and got to go to the zoo very early this morning. (Both boys were up at 6am). The fill-in nurse that trained today did a good job and kept Brendan entertained. What did I do with my free time? Housework! It would not have been my first choice, but the clutter and mess is an added stress and finding time to get to it makes more stress. Getting it done was totally worth it.

Bill took some great pictures on their outing.

As I looked at Trevor’s shaggy hair I said, “Trevor, do you need a haircut?” and he said, “Yes.” I asked if I should get out the clippers and he said, “Yes.” Then he said, “Haircuts are beautiful.”
He was just a little shaggy, but it gets hot and full of sunscreen.

Brendan has this little patch that always grows 8 times faster than the rest and makes a little mullet.

Both boys got a touch up with the clippers and then Trevor wanted to vacuum up the hair.

Bath time silliness. Apparently if you lather shampoo in your hair, bubbles will stick on it without popping and you will look like some adorable alien bubble head.

Bubbles everywhere!

Bill was out at a celebration for a friend, so I was dealing with the boys alone at bedtime. I was lucky that Brendan’s night nurse dropped by to pick up some papers she forgot because I was able to rope her in to helping me get the boys in bed. (OK, she was very willing to volunteer). Thanks Mary Alyn for making that part of the night much better.

Trevor had such an action packed long outing, we were sure he would nap all afternoon. 1hr is all he needed, but then he was begging for dinner just after 4PM! “Eat. Eat. Eat.” he said, “My tummy needs more food.”

Year 3 – Week 35 – Day 1

Stress levels are high today. We have another fill-in nurse training tomorrow and yet another new person coming on Monday. My feelings were hurt by someone I thought I could depend on, and I have more tough choices to make. The anxiety rubs off on the boys and they have been feeling it too, so it makes the day tougher. All the new people in and out causes a lot of tension.

All that aside, we want to wish a very happy birthday to Aunt Shannon. Trevor had a birthday message for her with a quote from “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”.

We had some issues with coloring time

What do you do when you have cabin fever because of the heat, and you need to wear out boys so that they sleep?
335bt01

Then when you tell them it is time to stop… melt down
335bt02

When Trevor feels insecure, he goes on a rampage. Tonight he unloaded the whole bookshelf.

We tried to get Brendan to say “happy birthday” too but he just was too distracted by what Trevor was doing. He did show off the name sign that he created for himself. He signs “Brendanzilla” by making the sign for the letter Z accompanied by a roar.

Overtired boys lead to really big melt downs. You probably didn’t think sweet little Brendan was capable of this. He was mad because I took him out of his bath before he was ready. We tried to redirect him and comfort him and at a certain point, we just have to let him get it out.

Year 3 – Week 34 – Day 7

It is a lazy blog today. We had a fill-in nurse to help us, it sometimes feels like more work getting someone up to speed on everything than just doing it myself. But, the big difference is that she will be available to fill in for us sometime again and won’t have so many questions.

Trevor is always constructing or deconstructing

Ask him what this is called and he says. “It’s a Can-O-Beaner!”
