Today’s post is going to be a novel with pictures… LOTS and lots of pictures. It is hard to even know where to begin! I will begin with the important highlights and then move to the detail.
1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRAMMA!!!!
2. Happy Father’s Day to my most favorite daddy ever, Bill.
3. Happy Father’s Day to all of the wonderful dads in my family!
4. Congratulations to the boys’ cousin Tim and his wife Jessica on the birth of their new sweet baby girl! Happy first Father’s Day, Tim!
Now, back to the start of the weekend. As soon as Bill was finished with work, we hit the road. Over some rivers and to the woods, with “Gramma’s House” in tow!! We got up to the camp spot just as the last light of day was fading. The boys were perfect in the car, and there wasn’t a single barf!
We had the music from “Frozen” to keep us going. This song is Brendan’s new favorite dance jam.
There was a big deal made about the Friday the 13th full moon on the news, that it was going to be a “Honey Moon” or some other fancy event. We were not able to see the horizon for the special colored moon show, but it was nice enough to rise just as the sun set and give us light to set up.

Saturday morning, Brendan was up at the crack of dawn and ready to explore.

Sweet little Trevor slept in!!

We might be on vacation, but some things never change. Strapped down by a feeding pump, Brendan has to play inside for a while.

On our first forest walk, we found this tree trunk that totally looks like an owl! Brendan was excited.

We took some awesome pictures on the owl tree! I love these boys. To get them to laugh, all I had to do was fall over on my butt while trying to take pictures at the same time. They were “using the force” to push me down and cracking up every time.

Time for some silly dizzy daddy time

It got pretty warm in the afternoon, so we relaxed for a while. Bill was able to set up our dual-generator configuration and verify that it is able to run the air conditioning in the trailer.

After some lounging and lunching, it was jumping, crazy, stuffed-animal throwing, bunk-bed climbing spazz time.

Brendan took a really good nap

While Brendan slept, Trevor and I went out with Eins to play

We had a nice tea party in the forest

Trevor drove his jeep around until I am sure it was almost out of battery

When Brendan woke up, Trevor showed him the closet hide-out game

Brendan put his boots on and wanted to go back outside!

Bill drove an R/C car around and Trevor chased it like a cat chases a laser pointer. That kid ran fast, looping in circles, diving after that truck. It was awesome.

Brendan was giggling at the car and Trevor.

He spent most of the time demanding that Bill pick him up and carry him around the forest. To be totally fair, the elevation is hard on Brendan. He handled it so well and was very active.

Trevor got to control the car. He figured out the controls pretty fast!

In the night, some animal made it into the bed of the truck and tore in to our garbage bag. It must have been hungry, but after pulling out nothing but dirty diapers and some soggy well-licked Doritos, it must have given up.

The drive home was great too. Almost barf-free. We made it to within 2 miles of the house with no problems. Poor Brendan! He really felt great, he had his favorite song to keep him smiling 😀
Bill worked his butt off this weekend. I can not even begin to describe how much work goes into prepping for this kind of outing. We have a checklist that is all categorized and made in Excel that we can print off for each trip. It has 150 or more checks to check. After busting our tails all day Friday packing, I started to wonder if it was worth all the effort. Now that we are home and it is all said and done, I can say that it absolutely was. We had an amazing time all together as a family and it was all possible because Bill works so hard to take care of us. When we got home today, I fed the boys lunch and did dishes and put the boys down for a nap. Bill unloaded everything and washed and scrubbed and parked the trailer.

We got some birthday cake ice cream to celebrate Gramma’s birthday today. Trevor loved it.

Even though he was a bit distracted and bribed with ice cream, I hope Gramma still likes the message 😀
We love you very much, Gramma. We hope you had a great birthday!
We love you very much, Bill! Happy Father’s Day!
